Rule of... well, me, because I formulated it myself and still can't find any proof that anybody else did before me: To find the meaning of a piece, present it to an imbecile who knows only what the words mean, who cannot construct a greater meaning than that if he tried. That is its truth. Beyond that, beyond what is clearly written into the text, all meaning is fictional, outside of the

    Perhaps a place of rest,

    Perhaps she looks for me,
    First time now for weeks.
    Perhaps to help my pain,
    Or just the hamster see.

I know why she is really here. Kitty heart pills have the side effect of making them quite active and clingy, followed by long nap. Screw poetry. It is a waste of time when you could be writing an actual story.

Had me some wisdom teeth amputated

You'd think that would hurt afterwards. Or be felt in any way. Odd.

    Just noticed

Future historians will take Ruby Pinch in SatN as a symbol for the inevitable approach of motherhood and how the thought is growing inside her, won't they.

    Well, poop.

so cute motherhood group can't even

Because why not age regression, right?

I swear the mothers get more hilarious every day.

Also note the uncredited artist "Lyra Senpai." Definitely a name you want to be seen when people look at your resumé.

The Name Game - Why I do things how I do them · 10:44pm Jun 28th, 2012

After reading through all of my works and constructing an altar for me, as you obviously have, you may have noticed how I treat ponies' names. If you didn't - shame on you - then here's a small summary.

1. One-word names
Obviously, there's no variation here. The only name you can give Fluttershy is Fluttershy, everything else feels improfessional. Surely you can use pet names, but not in the main text. Instead, they can be used in dialogue to avoid using the same word fifty times, as well as emphasise a good character relationship or that some character does not want to spell out the full name for whatever reason. Example given: RD calling Fluttershy both 'Flutters' and ''Shy'. As it's not her real name, you instantly recognise that they are good friends.

2. First and last name
This applies to Pinkie Pie, as well as, in my opinion at least, Twilight Sparkle. Don't ask me why, but using her full name, while technically correct, just feels too long and formal. So essentially, in an informal environment, she has the name Twilight, or Pinkie respectively, if you want. That gives me a bit of a problem as, even though she has three names if you want to, Twilight, Sparkle, and Twilight Sparkle, I can only use one of those. I solved it by giving Midnight, who is mostly interacting with her, three pet names for her, as well as various paraphrases. While she doesn't use any but one of those in direct dialogue, it still gives me tons of synonyms. The same thing goes for those in category 1.

3. First and subname
Don't ask me why, but I can't help but treat Rainbow Dash like 'Rainbow' is her main name and 'Dash' is an addition to that, identifying enough to stand on its own, but not necessary. So 'Rainbow', 'Dash' (A bit more informal), and 'Rainbow Dash' are all valid substitutes.

So, what does this list teach you? As if I knew!
I suppose you could say that everypony's different and that you should have at least three common names for each to avoid repetition.

That's racist!

I don't necessarily capitalise pony races like everybody else would and I'm probably formally wrong, but let me tell you why I do it that way.
There are three sorts of ponies. Earth Ponies, pegasi and unicorns. Of those three, only Earth Pony is a name that MLP invented and that should thus be capitalised. The other two are words that already exist in the english language, not names that you have to capitalise.
Wow, that was quick.
