Plot holes ahoy · 4:48am Nov 20th, 2014
I've got this little guilty fantasy discopie piece I'm working on that I can't quite make come together. The premise is that in an alternate timeline of Return of Harmony, discord turns pinkie against her friends and essentially seduces her to be his 'queen of chaos'. His plan has a myriad of benefits; he enjoys the looks on their faces when the heroes witness one of their own converted to his side, he gets an adoring (if somewhat manufactured) fangirl who'll fawn over and applaud his antics. And when or if her 'discording' wears off, he'll get to watch her mind break as she realizes how she'd betrayed her friends. And in the meantime, hell have quite a bit of fun with his new 'toy'. (Including scratching a particular thousand-year itch...)
But as time goes by, pinkie pies affection for him hasn't broken the way he'd been expecting. She entertains him, engages him frequently in games and activities, deverts his cruel streaks, and welcomes him into her bed with unwavering enthusiasm.
And he finds that he genuinely enjoys her company. He feels less and less pleasure from tormenting others and more from her smiles. Jokes made at others' expense don't seem quite as funny anymore.
One day, a year later later possibly, he overhears someone attempting to recruit pinkie pie in a plot to overthrow discord from the seat of power. She gently rejects their proposal and tries to talk the individual out of even attempting it. She says its too dangerous, and besides, she's working on her own, long term plan. "I want to save him from himself, if I can. There's good in him! He's like a child in a gods body...all power and no discipline. I just know that with a little love and understanding he can change! He's already better than when he first took the throne. (She lists examples). So please, don't do anything rash"
"Hmmmf, it sounds as if you really do care about him, and aren't just as much a captive as the rest of the country."
Pinkie sighs and says wistfully "that's it, really. I do care about him. I love him, after all. But I know what he's doing isn't the best. Not the worst, though, and that gives me hope."
After hearing that, discord is forced to consider his own feelings toward her and what to do next. If he loves her should he release her from the 'discording' spell? But that should have worn off long ago anyway...and he's afraid she'd hate him or leave him or it would completely break her and he no longer wants to cause her that kind of pain. But if he doesn't love her then he should punish her, right? For conspiring against him? Or at least maybe send her away, prove she has no power over him. But he very much doesn't like that answer. He doesn't want to lose her by his side, laughing at his jokes, competing with him, petting his ego, warming his bed.
But then what is the solution? The one idea I had was to make it a bittersweet tragedy, where he went back in time to the moment he would have 'seduced' pinkie pie over to his side and instead just discorded her like the show portrays, erasing the timeline and sacrificing their future together for one where she can defeat him and remain happy.
I did wanna write it that pinkie pie genuinely isn't under the effects of the seduction spell as much as discord thinks, and is maintaining status quo because she really does care about him and doesn't want to see him turned back
Into stone or executed or whatever punishment she fears would be inflicted on him if the elements returned. So she continues to play with him and shower him with affection because she thinks it will soften his heart or at least minimize the damage he causes. Maybe she is still a little discorded because she doesn't quite trust her friends to help with this plan, and can't help but doubt their friendship, haunted by the same anxieties she displayed in 'party of one' that discord amped up with his spell. He didnt have to plant those feelings in pinkie like he had to with fluttershy, just manipulate them. And similarly perhaps is how he seduces her; she'd already shown an inclination to like his chaos and his humor, he just enhanced it and juxtaposed it with the doubts about her friends. "I would go to all your parties and never get tired of your silliness unlike those so called friends", etc.
In toying around with the idea that they have twins during these years as chaos king and queen; children pinkie can teach the lessons of morality to and teach discord by extension. And adding another level of loving connection between them. And delicious angst. Can't forget the angst. And the potential fluffy adorable kid moments.
This sounds absolutely amazing I really hope you write this, and if you need help, then I can try... I'm a sucker for bittersweet endings myself, but it's your story- and it sounds like a good one.
