My Rant · 11:18pm Nov 16th, 2014
Ok, so there is something that really pisses me off that I just need to rant about.
People who just read story descriptions and don't give the story an actual read piss me off. They just down-vote the story based on the description. This is fucked up. Seriously, what the hell? How can you tell if a story is actually good if you don't read the god-damn story? A description is not going to tell you everything! This has now happened to me twice where I post new stories and people just down-vote it because off the description. They don't care if the story is good. All they care about is if the description is good.
I work hard to write my stories, dammit. Why should I pander to people just to get people to read my story? I'm not going to reveal everything in my description. You need to actually read my stories to get where things are going.
Another thing is down-voting a story that is only one chapter in. How the hell can you tell if a story is going to be good based off of one chapter? At least give a story 2-3 chapters before you down-vote it. Some stories take time to get going, and down-voting a story that has only one chapter, and is marked as incomplete, is completely unfair to the author.
I'm not completely talking out of my ass here. These things are completely frustrating for writers who just want to get their stories out for people to read. I know I'm not the only writer around here that feels this way. Think about the stories that used to get voted based off of their cover art. Who cares if the story is good, lets up-vote because I like the cover art. WTF. \
Things like this make me not want to post stories here anymore. This community, in my opinion, ahs lost a lot of what made it good to begin with. People that actually cared about good writing and actually read the stories. Now there's so much shit on here that the good stories get drowned out by all the garbage that is being pumped onto this site.
Ok, my rant is over. I apologize if I offended anyone, but sometimes things need to be said, especially when the same thing keeps happening over and over.
