Finders Keepers, Wet Work and beyond! · 1:17am Jun 22nd, 2012
Hello Readers!
Just thought I'd scribble up an update on what I've been up to. Basically, I've been adding bits and pieces towards finishing Finders Keepers and I intend to have the penultimate chapter of that out in... oh, say around a week or two. I also intend to finish Wet Work soon, probably within the next month or two providing nothing goes insanely wrong. Regarding Thunderstruck, I've put it on the back burner for now - unfortunately "Thunder" has become somewhat uninteresting, but I'm sure I'll finish the story one day.
The work on Wet Work actually brings me to something I've been thinking about for a while - what to do with The Chameleon. For those of you who haven't been reading Wet Work, Chameleon is a Gary Stu that I created for shits and giggles; his talent being using magic to change his appearance, which he uses to great effect as a mercenary. He was intended as a one shot character who would die at the end of Wet Work, but he's grown on me to the point where he's been mentioned several times throughout the Coffeeverse (There are references there, I promise!) and he's even been mentioned in a story by my good friend TheGentlemanCreeper (ten points to whomever can find said mention :) ).
My conundrum regarding Chameleon is that I do now have a sequel planned for Wet Work, but I can't decide what direction to take Cham's character, so I'm going to let you all decide!
The choices are between "Dark and Gritty", a'la the latest Bond films, vs a more comedic look at espionage and the like, a'la Austin Powers.
Also, I've started writing notes for a new fic with a different background pony. Some of you will probably remember the scene in Drunken Lullabies, in which it is mentioned that Octavia split from the stallion from "A Change of Tempo" - this new fic will be named "Heavy Metal", and will once again have "you" as Gibson the guitarist. It'll also have something happen, something important to me personally, affecting one of the longer-term established "couples" of the Coffeeverse.
Anyway, hope you're all well,
Coffee
I'd like a more comedic secret agent, but not to the silliness level of Austin Powers.
Can't wait for the end of Finders Keepers and Heavy Metal sounds very intriguing.
I agree with Gears. Funny, but not overly silly. It's gonna be hard to balance the two to get it to work right. If you need a hand, just let me know.
