Some of you might have noticed that I have not been writing much lately other than updates for Tricks And Treats. (Those always come out longer that I expected.)
This...has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with my recently becoming addicted to TVTropes. Or the many new anime shows I have discovered as a result.
Nothing at all.
-----
Pretty Cure: This started out as a Cash Cow Franchise (gee I wonder what other shows you might like that started out the same way) created by Toei Animation that now sports eleven alternate continuities plus the original. All featuring a certain number of girls kicking evil ass with rainbows and kicks. I'm actually working on a crossover fic with Bookish Delight that crosses over with this very franchise. (The very first series, to be specifix: the one with Nagisa and Honoka)
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: DISCLAIMER: If you aren't a fan of swearing, sex jokes and nausea fuel in your anime, this is not for you. Take warning. (In other words, this is a typical Studio Gainax anime.)
So anyway, apparently evil creatures called Ghosts have been attacking Daten City, a city on the border of Heaven and Earth. In response, Heaven sends down two not-very-heavenly angels; Panty, a promiscuous blonde who can turn panties into guns, and Stocking, a goth girl with an eternal sweet tooth who can turn socks into swords. Guided by Father Garterbelt, a guy named Brief, and their dog Chuck, they proceed to fight ghosts in weird-as-hell ways.
Why am I recommending this? Because despite the...weirder elements...I think it's worth at least a cursory glance, if only for gem lines like these:
Stocking: Seriously, go dry-hump something! I'm too hungry to deal with your shit!
Panty: I never thought I'd say this, but I'm too hungry to dry-hump anything!
Tamayura: A young girl named Fu Sawatari moves to Takehara, Hiroshima to begin her first year of high school. She really likes photography, and is often engrossed in taking pictures on her dad's old camera. Despite being pretty shy, she quickly manages to befriend three girls; Kaoru Hanawa, who has a self-proclaimed scent fetish, Maon Sakurada, who whistles all the time, and Norie Okazaki, who loves baking. She starts to take pictures of the time they spend together on camera, and quickly learns about the tamayura phenomenon, little specks of light that appear in pictures when the people in them are happy.
Go watch some of this if you're having a bad day. If it doesn't cheer you up then you're most likely some kind of robot.
I've been wanting to write a Pretty Cure/My Little Pony Crossover for AGES! I just thought no one would really get it...
Can't wait for yours though!
