They met at a rock farm... · 12:37am Oct 13th, 2014

Sorry about the late blog post, uploading and organising videos for the Grin Brother channel has been a time consuming process with unexpected bumps here and there. Last weekend, when my brother and I were ready to upload our latest video, we noticed that the audio was out of sync. As such, my brother had to sort it out (he put himself in charge of editing the videos), and he ended up spending the weekend sorting the videos out. Given that the Grin Brothers laptop is also my personal laptop... yeah, it was a problem. Then other things happened and yadda, yadda, yadda, I ended up late with making a blog post, but here it is.

Grin Brothers!

On that note, before I begin talking about the main topic of this blog post, I will mention that the Grin Brothers channel is now getting daily uploaded videos. Currently the majority of our videos our episodes of our LittleBigPlanet 2 playthrough, but we have been ocassionally differing with single part episodes such as one on One Piece: Pirate Warriors and a very recent one of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Once again, if you wish to check them out, feel free to with the following link to our channel, the Grin Brothers. Also, we now have channel art thanks to a friend.

Onto the main topic of today's blog post, one of which I have to thank Fernesh for inspiring me to do. In his recent comment he mentioned:

As for the subjects, you can always talk about your opinion on some things, like for exemple a new shipping that you love

Which in turn led me to think about such a shipping that I've recently been interested in. It's a fairly new ship, having really only emerged two or three months ago, and whilst it's not being conducted by many artists, it's being well recieved. Spearheaded mostly by the artist known as Foudubulbe, and with around 80+ pictures on Derpibooru, I present to you;

Mauxie! The shipping of Maud Pie and Trixie.

I found out about this ship by encountering a comic drawn by Foundubulbe. I had been reading his/her comic series, Memory Lapse, and upon looking up other works of the artists (they make some great comics, ranging from smart to funny to adorable), encountered one of their many Mauxie comic strips. The artist actually has been doing a comic series of Mauxie interactions, including moments with Pinkie Pie involved, and it has changed in style quite a bit over the couple of months. For instance, it started off like this:

Then it went to this:

An as of late has been looking like this:

Throughout it's artistic changes, Foundubulbe's work has remained consistently good, usually being cute and funny, though with the occasional surprise element. In any case, Foundubulbe's work is one I would recommend having a look-see, be it the Mauxie stuff or not, so I'll provide you with two Founduble links. First to DevinatART and then to Derpibooru.

I've yet to see anyone within the fanfiction scene work on anything regarding the ship of Mauxie, but other artists have also created artwork for the ship, including one of my favourite Brony artists, Megarexetera (this artist also happens to do wonderful FlutterDash artwork).

With that said, perhaps I should mention why I came to like this shipping. Now a big part of it does play into being introduced to it via Foundubule's adorable works. The interactions of Maud and a tsundere Trixie are adorable, but the element that makes me warm to this new ship is how it just clicks. It seems like a ship that could work.

For starters, within Foundubule's works, the characters are pretty much presented as they are in the show. Trixie being a tsundere is interpretation, but it does feel like a trait one would expect of a character like Trixie. Furthermore, these characters do have a common point within cannon when they'd have possibly met and interacted; Trixie's time working at the Pie family's rock farm. With a canonical set up for the two meeting, and at that, for extended periods of time, there is something to base a relationship off of. These two would have had interactions and formed a relationship, be it good or bad, and in pondering what their interactions could be like their is the thought of whether they got along romantically. There is a developmental point to spring off, and artists have done just that thanks to Foundobule's initial push.

In the end, it works well for me as a fan of opposite attracts, as well as a fan of having some root point to ship the characters from (hence why I can enjoy and support SoarJack, thanks to them having a canonical moment within the show). So, perhaps I could have gone into deeper detail but at the end of the day, I've simply been enjoying this ship. There's not much else to say about it other than that. Feel free to tell me what you think of the Mauxie ship or any other shippings you've been enjoying recently. For now, I'll be saying cheerio!

Thank you....now I ship it.:pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing....

Mauxie. That's...out there.

On the bright side, this did take my mind off figuring out a key scene for my Applepants story (Yes, Applejack x Fancypants. and yes, it's probably just as out there as Mauxie. I started writing it as part of a contest, and am still going with it, because it's a way to broaden my horizons), where the reason for Fancy asking AJ out is established.

Too bad I'm not a fan of either character, though, so I can't really say I support it. though it has no real competition from any other ship for me. (Though I also wasn't a fan of Photo Finish until I wrote a story shipping her and Fluttershy. No, I don't have any loyalty to my Flutterdash OTP)

I ship it like Korean Gameboy knockoffs.

Just realized you're alive. I blame it on the fact that I haven't been on this site in a while.

Sue me.

2528767 The more the merrier. Let your armada grow more and more until you sail out with a massive fleet. All in all, good to hear of others interested in the ship thanks to this here blog post. Thanks for commenting, UfUnNyF1r3nd.

2529344 Yeah, you're certainly one to talk about out there ships. :raritywink:

But seriously, glad I could help take your mind off worries for a moment, good luck with this fanfic of yours. As for not being a fan of the characters involved in the Mauxie ship (I'm assuming you went back to Mauxie and were not referring to your FancyJack ship), well I'm quite surprised to hear of someone who doesn't care for Maud. She's generally been well liked or loved by the majority of the fandom.

Anyway, I see it to be no problem in shipping characters you don't care much for. I dislike Celestia and am rather neutral on Discord, but I still ship them. Meanwhile, I'm not exactly a fan of Trixie, but I still ship her with Blueblood and now Maud as well.

You're certainly a treacherous lad, jumping off the S.S. FlutterDash as you parade about the deck of other ships, but the matter of shipping is all in good fun, so such an attitude can be pardoned (provided you never sabotage us of course). Gosh, I love that these pairings are also termed 'ships'. Anyway, thank you for commenting, Zyr1987.

2529774 Speaking of Korean, it just so happens that the only video of the G3 MLP episode I plan to review that I could find, happens to be a Korean subtitled version. Not sure how Hasbro missed that one but seemingly flagged every single other version of the video. Thanks for commenting, Spectrumancer.

2541880 Yes, I'm still alive, though like yourself my frequenting of this site has been much less as of late. Still, we should try and chat in future some more, a feat that should be easier once I manage to give my recently purchased Xbox One Skype.

It's nice to hear from you Ugugg, and I shall see you in court. Cheerio! :pinkiehappy:
