I remember hearing... · 4:42pm Oct 11th, 2014
I remember hearing once, that my words can help put ponies back together, or my words can take ponies apart. I try to remember that when I write.
I remember hearing once, that the future is more important than the present. I try to remember that when I write.
I remember hearing once, that if I narrowly avert certain tragedy due to some sort of road hazard, then I simply wander off, and don't try to warn others of the danger, then I share blame for their injury. I try to remember that when I write.
I remember hearing once, that the difference between the right word and the wrong word, is like the difference between lightning and a lightning bug. I try to remember that when I write.
I remember hearing once, that the key to vivid writing is to so totally and completely immerse yourself into the situation or event, then let it flow slowly around you, and try to record what you experience. I try to remember that when I write.
I remember hearing once, that Friendship is supposed to be Magic here. I try to remember that when I write.
I remember hearing once, that you may be able to please everypony some of the time, and you may be able to please some ponies all the time. But you can't please everypony, all the time. I try to remember that when I write. And in a community dedicated to Friendship being Magic, the animosity I sometimes encounter here is alarming. Still, if our stores might help even one pony make sense out of a difficult or battered existence, or even give them hope, then, I guess, I will keep writing... Because, Friendship really IS magic! I try to remember that when I write.
I remember hearing once, that for some ponies, all they need is just a little more hope to make it through the day. I try to remember that when I write.
I remember reading once... Well, it was in old pony I think, but it translated into something like this: That kingdom that doesn't take care of it's mares destroys itself. I try to remember that when I write.
I also remember reading somewhere that the truth sets us free. The obvious corollary to this is that propagating falsehood leads to bondage. I try to remember that when I write.
I also remember hearing once that 10,000 misleading words can make 10 true words easily dismissed. That is just scary...
I remember hearing once that it is more blessed to give rather than receive. I try to remember that as I write.
And who is the moron who said you need to chase inspiration with a hammer? I wouldn't want to waste my time reading anything that was hammered together, coerced, forced... Inspiration should lead to writing that flows, from your thoughts calmly into an amazing story. I try to remember that when I write.
By the way... There is really only One "Story Master", and He is just a prayer away from those who really love Him...
I think I need to add a disclaimer. Ponies talk about the world like it is a huge ocean, and we often make mention of the lake or pond that we live in. I am the tiniest guppy in a boot print still holding just a little rain water. I don't need to be reminded, I know this is true.
