Random Tip: Keeping Ideas Flowing · 3:41am Oct 4th, 2014
I meant to blog about this months ago, but a combination of real life and general slacking when not working conspired against me. Nonetheless, I finally got around to it. xD
One of the fandom's great artists, AssasinMonkey, fills his DA galleries with jaw-dropping artwork, but his DA journal has more than a few interesting and insightful posts in it. His semi-recent entry on generating a consistent flow of ideas was especially enlightening, and I think many of the points he makes can apply to us authors as well. Especially his points about jotting down every idea, no matter how silly it may seem up front. Even if you only find two gems amongst the dirt, that's two more than you had when you started. ;)
If you have a moment, give it a read. While you're there, be sure to peruse his gallery - it's full to the brim with extremely well-done pieces. Of particular note is his First Contact War series of pieces, where he is well on the way to crafting an epic AU for ancient Equestria*.
Cheers!
