A Personal Touch: The Height of a Foal, a Pony, a Celestia, And a Human... And a Farfig. · 12:13pm Sep 28th, 2014

Many times has the subject arisen regarding the heights of ponies, especially where comparisons to humans is concerned. It differs from author to author in how they show this in their writings or other creative works, and so there generally isn't a norm. Well, there is the one norm to follow--Their maximum height;

"Pony foals are smaller than horse foals, but both have long legs and small bodies. For many forms of competition, the official definition of a pony is a horse that measures less than 14.2 hands (58 inches, 147 cm, 4' 10'') at the withers. Horses are 14.2 or taller." ~ Wikipedia (take that as you will)

Also, bear in mind that this is measured "at the withers"--The shoulders of the pony (something I didn't know until recently. I thought the withers was the waist. Cuz I'm dumb).

Having said that, let's do some height comparisons.

Here we have cute lil Apple Bloom. She stands 1' 2'' at the withers, and 2' 4'' at the head. And 3' at the top of her bow, but that's cheating.

Oh! Here comes the newly-crowned Princess of Friendship herself! As we can see, she's around 2' 4'' at the wither (Hey, that's the same height and all of Apple Bloom!) and 4' at the head. From various screenshots, we know that Apple Bloom's head reaches the withers of the Mane Six; we know that scale is concrete, at least. Pretty tall, right? But that's not the tallest, of course.

The great Princess Celestia is the tallest pony we know of so far; by this height chart she stands at 4' at the withers (Huh...That's the same as Twilight's head height--A recurring pattern, it seems) and 6'4'' at head height. From various screenshots, we can see that the top of Twilight's head reaches the withers of her esteemed teacher.

So what about humans? Well, let's take a look;

Looks like Twilight took a trip to Azeroth, judging by those clothes she's wearing (either that or she went and soloed Molten Core). She stands at 5' 6'' in this picture, and we can clearly see how she scales with the other ponies and such.

Well... I think that about covers everything. So I'm just gonna back up my stuff and--

OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!

That 7' 6'' monstrosity is a Farfig. What's a Farfig? Perhaps we will find out soon...

Is a Farfig supposed to look like an orc, because he does.

2899824 Yush, A Farfig is an orc.

2902305 What exactly is the difference I mean you got the Mag'har orcs who are uncorrupted, the fel orcs who are completley corrupted, chaos orcs who are basically like fel orcs, and then their are half-orcs like Rexar or Garona.

2902544 lol, Farfig isn't his subrace of orc. It's his name. A rather special name. In fact, it would be ludicrous to refer to him as "a Farfig". He is THE Farfig. What makes it so special? Well, that'll be revealed in an upcoming story... when I have enough time to get around to writing it.

2902817 Farfig is his name? Well now I feel stupid. Aside from that however it's about damn time we get a story with an Orc in it, the only one I was able to find had Garrosh Hellscream in it, and that story is taking forever.
