Destiny Review Plus Updates · 4:48am Sep 25th, 2014
Destiny; the most expensive game ever built, behind one of the greatest companies out there (Bungie), and holding an average of around 7/10 for scores, this is what I have to say.
While most people are right about the game being nothing but a grind fest, that isn't until your upper levels with the game capping out at level 30. After two days of playing, I'm at level 12 myself. The game is mostly two options, against wave after wave of computers that spawn in the same spot, at the same time, forever. Or you can play in the Crucible, which is an unfair multiplayer fest. Take your pick.
If any people tell you the Crucible is good, they're above level 20 at LEAST. Since the game obviously has a Call of Duty system in which you are paired up with people of differing levels, I have found myself to be paired up with a team of 20s or greater and me being a below level ten character. Suffice it to say, I got hammered hard. Basically, whoever has a better special weapon, the secondaries in Destiny, is probably going to kick your ass. Mostly the shotguns and fusion rifles. Man, I got so pissed getting taken out by them one after another because I couldn't stay alive after a shot, get away fast enough from the shots of a shotgun with the worst range in existence, or because the multiplayer is sort of broken in general.
One problem is melee. The Hunter Class has a knife. I've witnessed Hunter's teleporting, and slicing someone into metaphorical pieces. When I tried to retaliate with my meekly level 6 flick of the wrist, he hit me once and I died. (Melee's are supposed to have a sort of lock on feature, so you hit your fucking target, but it didn't work for me in the Crucible at all)
I have an armor rating of a little more than 200, while others can have a rating of over 1200. I can't explain why there isn't a balancing system, but it's probably the lack of people with lives. Ranking up past level 20 is hard, and if you have the time to grind away hundreds of hours to rank up a few times, then you need a brake.
Oh, well, hopefully Bungie fixes the game through patches, and releases free DLC for a story that is half-assed.
Master 4871's assessment on Destiny....... 5.5/10.
Really, what did you expect from company, which never made a MMO before and insisted on it not being a MMO?
There isn't even a level cap for the multiplayer? Guildwars 2 sets you on maxlvl in the pvp atleast. You can just buy GW2, jump into the pvp and play pvp until you're level 80.

Barely even an MMO. You can have up to 12 people in one game at a time, and the only thing that is close to an MMO is the Tower where all the players converge to buy stuff, get special items, continue the short story, or dance with other people. Seriously, press right on the d-pad (Xbox One) and your Guardian starts dancing. I think it's funny, but instead of doing that, they should have focused on the actual story, not dancing. (There's also waving, pointing, and sitting down which are the other directions on the d-pad.)
It's a shame Bungie has their name plastered on one of the most overhyped games in 2014. Let's hope Evolve, Battlefield Hardline, or Halo the MC Collection is better than this. 343 is already going back on their word, let's hope they reverse the damage done.
2482474 The dancing does seem to be the most enjoyable part of Destiny.
There are some very funny videoes with it.
Evolve probably will turn out very enjoyable, as for Battlefield Hardline and Halo, don't know, don't care. I don't have a XBox nor do I play BF. I got Borderlands.
just to let you know, in PvP, the numbers for weapons and armor are lowered to a base stat. Ex: an exotic chest pice will have the same defence raiting as an uncommon chest pice.
so this means:
Exotic = 30 Defence.
uncommon = 30 Defense.
same with weapons.
the only things that really effect the weapons are
Status Effect -Void, Arch, Solar (barely effects it really.)
Fire rate
Impact
Range
Stability
Reload
special effects (precision kills with this weapon increase reload speed for a short time. Etc.)
and for armor:
Intellect
Discipline
Strength
special effects (carry more ammo for -weapon type-)
notice how when you select the crucible playlist it says
>> (number of players)
>> Fireteam (number of players)
>> Xbox/ PSN membership required
>> Level Advantages Disabled
the only advantages you do get from leveling is the perks you choose to have active
being low level is only a small factor in pvp. hell you can go in with starting equipment and still kick some ass. my friend had done it when he came over to my house and started up a new guardian. and he placed 4th in clash.
i know this may look like a jumbled mess, but stats wise, its pretty leveled for the most part, while i will agree that the shot gun , auto rifle and fusion rifle need a bit of a nerf. its deffinately a good game.
Iron Banner is a different story tho
