Flash Sentry and Mary Frosthorn are sent to investigate the last Night Guard research installation: Location B. Almost as soon as they breach it, they find themselves totally cut off from the outside world, and hunted in the uncaring darkness by a murderous thestral.

What they discover about him, and themselves, will destroy their very conception of reality. Only one will survive.
