One-shots and the ever expanding word count

Ah, writing short stories is fun. Writing short, little, teeny-tiny self contained pockets of madness or sadness or badness is awesome.

The annoying thing is when you can't stop that short one-shot turning into some fairly long story--especially when you only wanted a short story in the first place.

Ah well, it's good to be writing about four different stories at once, and start new ones every now and then. It lets me keep my mind fresh on stories, and be able to leave a story to dry for a while without running low on stuff to work on. I also very highly recommend these tips if you're stuck against a wall, not being able to write anything else. Helped me work out where to go in one of my stories, and get to actually writing stuff and breaking past that 500-word-or-so barrier that seems to be cropping up while I'm writing.

In any case, I should have another short-shot for you guys fairly soon, as well as a longer story I'm working on (well, long for me, which means it'll probably be pretty short by most fanfiction standards). Can't wait to show you guys some more of my writing and ideas; I hope you enjoy them!
