    Progress

By now, I know better than to make big announcements about "returning to writing" or any of that shiz. So I'm going to leave this blog strictly with what I've actually accomplished, and not what I plan on accomplishing since I have no idea whether or not I'll actually do it.

A Series of Unasked Questions is now at 2,376 words. Quite good, seeing as 800 of those words were done last night.

    Land of Confusion

I must have dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
    They're moving into the street

Now, did you read the news today?
They say the danger has gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
    They're burning into the night

    Well then...

Welp, I just started a new job. So far, in my first week at said job, I've had Fat Albert, Cruella de Vil, Hugh Jackman, Sylvester Stallone, and Walter White come by my register.

This is gonna be an interesting job...

Riders now has a rage review · 10:13pm Aug 15th, 2014

It can be found here.

Now before I get into my reaction to this, let me just say that this is part of the reason why I haven't updated my stories in a while, though I admit it was also because I'm an extremely busy, excessively lazy, rarely inspired, easily distracted motherfucker. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and in the worst possible way. I can't do stuff until I know I can do it well. As such, I wanted to hold off on updates until I got a review.

In my opinion, the review was...fair. Actually, I think in some places it gave me a bit too much credit. Here's what I got out of it.

1) I'm really good at writing scenery/description porn.

2) I'm pretty good at setting the atmosphere for dialogue.

3) I'm horrible with writing the actual dialogue (all the good dialogue was at least partially written by Vedavyasa).

4) I can't write Rarity for shit. That OOC moment Palm Pallete comments on? My doing. Vedavyasa handled most of her characterization.

5) I'm not all that great at considering the full political ramifications of events, nor am I good at writing a narrative with strong political aspects to it.

So now I can't help but wonder: am I sticking to all the wrong points by writing Riders? It seems to me that it focuses on all the weaker aspects of my writing.
