    Twenty Six.

What if I told you that every story written in the English language that you ever read is just a simple make up of twenty six letters. Twenty six basic shapes all thrown together to make one grand whole. To some these shapes would look like nothing more than nonsense and be disregarded as such, to other these shapes could be gestures of love and affection, hate and spite, sadness and happiness.

    Who is Terry Pratchett

I don't know who Terry Pratchett is...

    And apparently that's a crime...

I've heard the name... But never read any of his books...

If I were to give you twenty six different shapes to work with and a blank canvas then told you to make art you might just scoff and call me a fool, muttering words of impossibility. Perhaps however, you are one of the few who would look at those little shapes with a simple grin as you brought them together.

Those letters would soon form words, those word would grow to sentences, paragraphs, whole chapters! Because with those letters you didn't just create art, you created a masterpiece. With letters follows three simple things. The first being freedom.

Letters give you the most precious gift: freedom. Freedom to express your innermost self, to pour your heart out upon paper. It grants you the freedom to explore who you are and discover things you've never known about yourself. To simply let yourself go and have free.

Letters grant you the greatest power known to man. That power my friends is Creativity. A man once said “When we write we become gods.” When we write we can create, People, Towns, Cities, Monuments, Planets. Whole universe. All at nothing more than a pen stroke or the press of a key, all held within the confines of a book or a web page. When given words we become masters of creation. “The only limitation to what you can create is your imagination.”

The final thing that letters can grant is not only the greatest weapon to ever have existed, but also the strongest shield as well. That thing is a voice. A voice, no matter how small, can overthrow kings and topple empires. A voice can start a revolution that can change history forever. A voice can lift one's soul to it’s highest but as the same time it can shatter it as well, leaving it to crumble and fall. Nothing is more powerful, and more dangerous than a voice.

The thing is; anyone can use words, whether for better or for worse is dependent on the wielder. While some use the gift that they have been granted for the greater good, others would like nothing more than to cause pain to those around them, for they do not understand the weight of the gift they bear.

letters can make a heart soar or even break. Can bring forth tears of joy, sadness, fear, happiness. Cause any emotion imaginable.

Now what if I told you that twenty six different little shapes held that much power.

And perhaps you have read these paragraphs, these sentences, these words, this make up of twenty six different letters and now, fully, know their weight.
