EFNW: Post-Con Report · 3:59am Jul 8th, 2014
Hello again, everyone! Finally home from EFNW, though given the hot and humid weather here in the Mid-West, my wife and I were sorely tempted to get right back on that plane and trek back to the much nicer weather in Seattle. xD
I'm sure your news feeds will be bombarded with post-con wrap-up posts, so I'll spare you a detail-by-detail breakdown. Suffice to say, the con was amazing. This was our second trip to EFNW, and this year was even better than the last. the panels were great, the VAs and the crowd had a rocking good time, and overall, things seemed to run smoothly for everyone involved.
The Writing Track was greatly expanded this year, and I took full advantage of it, listening and taking notes in most every writing related panel. I have to give a huge shout out to Pen Stroke, Xepher, Piquio Pie, and Horizon for offering loads of wisdom and expertise in multiple panels. Lots of great information and advice for me to soak through now!
Now, if you'll indulge me a for a second, let me activate *mark out mode* a bit:
**I had a total of three people come up to me during/after a writing panel to say that they had read one/many of my fics, and liked them a lot. Specific mentions were made to both 'Full Bloom' and 'Scars'.
**I riled up a bit of courage and decided to read a bit of the newly revised 'Scars' during one of the 'Open Read and Critique' panels... and to my shock, the folks gathered around the table really seemed to like it! As in, "I need to go read the rest of this" liked it!
*SQUEEE* :D
*ahem*
Ok, that said, I also want to name drop a few folks that I had the pleasure of meeting and reviewing their fics:
Hazard: Has a FarCry cross-over fic in the works. Great world building so far, and while told from the first person perspective, it's showing great promise. If you like FarCry-verse, this is worth a look for sure.
Xepher: Awesome guy who organized many fo the critique panels and such. Also has an excellent fic titled 'Hole in the Sun' in the works. It's taking many tropes to 11, then wrapping a serious adventure around it all. Absolutely worth a read.
Silver Flare: Showcased a bit of his completed fic, 'Darkened Shores'. From the bit that I read, it's well constructed, and has plenty of advanture and intrigue to keep you going for a long reading session. Also gives ample screen time to characters that now reside only in the background or on the side. Also worth a look for sure!
I'm sure that I missed a few folks, but it was not intentional at all. Just too many names to remember! xD It was great to meet so many other authors, and I hope to see all of you again next year in Seattle!

Lol!
Heh, thanks for the plug there! Soon as I get time, I'll be reading the couple of stories you mention. As noted during the ORC, that intro definitely hooked me, so eager to see more. Just have to catch up after the con first! For now, just want to say thanks for participating in all the fanfic stuff. I was very happy to see people show up for the "hard work" and interaction type of events!
I'd also like to say thanks for the bump! You've got a clear writing style and great ideas. I'm looking forward to pawing through what you've written. Sometime after I finish reading Scars.
