So, recently, Asilin and I learned that our air conditioning unit was years older than we were told when we bought our house, and pretty much shot. This was just it time for summer to really pick up, so we've been sitting through over-90° heat for a couple weeks without any A/C. Then we found out the repairs would be just shy of $4,000, because the indoor unit and attached furnace were equally bad. However, we then found out our homeowner's insurance would do a partial repair, enough to get us through the summer, and would only cost us $370.
But that can't be done until Monday, so we've mostly been hanging out in the basement office/storage area because it's about 10 degrees colder than upstairs, and just trying to ignore all the bugs that get in down here.
However, soon after finding out about those things, I learned that the noise from the back of my car was due to a brake caliper jamming. The brake pad and rotor were in constant contact, and both had worn down to the bare metal. They were ruined, and would need to be replaced. The front brakes were bad, too, and adding those in brought the grand total up to about $750.
It feels like we've been swerving from one crisis to the next since the start of the year. This kind of shit is why I wind up stressed, depressed, and in no mood to write.
In other news, Asilin got Child Of Light on Steam. We have since learned it is also on Ubisoft's Uplay service, and you have to be on both services simultaneously to play it. Also, Uplay's recaptcha is horribly broken, and was the cause of a great deal of stress.
All in all, Uplay is kinda retarded.
