When it comes to a sequel, time always takes the front seat. So with that said, how much of a time gap should there be between one story and an upcoming sequel? How much is too much? Or too little?

it depends on the story itself, some stories have a timeline that allows one to make a sequel that takes place immediately afterwards, or a couple days later, but other stories are able to timeskip years of peacetime between sequels, so in the end it's really up to the author how much time passes between stories, and how they address the timeskip itself
