Welp, I've done it. And by god am I kinda shaking all over. Now, for years, I've wanted to write a Fanfic thing of Half-Life 2, then wanted to create my own writing project codenamed the "Natural Selection Project." While I won't discuss that here, what I will discuss is A Tale of Two Nations.
For a while I considered writing some sort of Fanfic, and recent reads of The End of Ponies, and The Night That Never Ended made me feel compelled to write out one of my own. I do plan on making a second story that's actually set in the same universe, and that's the one I put more thought into. However I wanted to start with this one, since I felt inspired the night I wrote most of it.
What's available now is the first chapter of my hopefully decent first Fanfic, at the moment it's a rough draft especially considering I didn't have a superb grip on all of the tools so I could upload it from my Word document I made, so it got imported kinda sloppily. Not to mention I'm sure the whole thing overall could use some polish and editing as well as better descriptions, maybe.
But for now I'm happy I actually produced something, which is saying a lot since I was stuck with writer's block for the past 5-6 years. I just hope you guys won't pass to harsh a judgement on it, but feedback will most certainly be welcome!

Oh and to any and all interested, he's a picture of my main character, since I can't think of a good place to put it:
It's not what he actually looks like. I made this within the limitations of the ponymaker editor. His markings should only go up to his neck, with nothing red on his face whatsoever, and the eye-piece actually belongs over his right eye, and should be a rounded rectangular shape. It's basically a high-tech holographic eye-visor with yellow text that displays useful information, with it being emitted from a small arm that folds in and out of the headpiece as well as a microphone for communication purposes.
(This is my pony-sona by the way :P Just named Goliath in pony-sona terms, and he's Ashen Nightwing in the story. Hope you guys like him!)
