    On the Matter of Headcanons

So it's been a while since I've posted a blog post. Or story, for that matter. Do I have a story for you? Eh...I'll get back to you on that. But a blog post? Now, that I have.

The Act of Writing - The Importance of Character

While I wish to continue my discussion about ponies as lanterns, that is a post that must wait until I can make it a little less like a rambling, mad jaunt like the last one was. As such, today we shall discuss the act of writing fiction itself, which I'll continue to do here until I feel I've discussed every little nook and cranny concerning it. For that reason these posts will not be separated

Let's Talk About Lanterns, Part 1

I've been reading Geoff Jon's run on Green Lantern lately, and the not-written-by-him-but-still-awesome Green Lantern Corps, and have been greatly enjoying it. There's something to be said for an intergalactic police force powered by courage--don't you dare correct me, courage is an actual emotion, willpower is not--with a bunch of other corps powered by other emotions interacting with

Let's Talk About Lanterns, Part 1 · 11:13am May 22nd, 2014

I've been reading Geoff Jon's run on Green Lantern lately, and the not-written-by-him-but-still-awesome Green Lantern Corps, and have been greatly enjoying it. There's something to be said for an intergalactic police force powered by courage--don't you dare correct me, courage is an actual emotion, willpower is not--with a bunch of other corps powered by other emotions interacting with them, some evil, some not, and some definitely not. So let's talk about Lanterns right now, because I feel like it.
Let's get this out of the way, right here, right now: One of the greatest injustices of fiction is that Pinkie Pie is not a Blue Lantern. No, no, don't give me that excuse that she isn't even in the same universe as the Blue Lantern Corps. Any being with the ability to inspire as much hope as Pinkie Pie deserves to have dimensional barriers transcended. A bloody power battery needs to drop into the MLP universe, grow into a full battery, and start spitting out rings and smaller power batteries so that Pinkie Pie can have a Blue Lantern ring and a nice blue uniform.
"But Mister G," I hear you saying, "Giving a ring capable of creating constructs limited only by creativity and imagination, short of filling the ring's internal hope RAM or whatever that is, and not being near a Green Lantern seems like a bad idea!" What was that? I can't hear you over Pinkie Pie, woho would ignore the Green Lantern limit like a boss, breaking the boundaries of the universe, going into the DC Universe, and making everybody stop being so goddamn dark and dull and mopey and angsty thus actually letting them start being friggin' awesome again.
Oh, and going into the Marvel universe and putting an end to the crap there too. I swear, if Pinkie Pie had been there, she'd have bitch-smacked Peter Parker in the face and One More Day wouldn't have happened. And she'd have probably done something to Mephisto. God, I hope she'd done something to Mephisto.
What was I talking about? Oh, right. Blue Lantern Pinkie Pie. Let's make that a thing. Hopefully, someone will get the picture and make it happen. This needs to be a thing. Not just for the sheer fun of it, but the requirement for joining is "the ability to inspire great hope." Tell me that isn't what Pinkie Pie does. Tell me the entirety of Smile, Smile, Smile doesn't immediately qualify her for the Blue Lantern Corps. Pinkie Pie would be the best Blue Lantern ever. The sheer amount of hope she can inspire is staggering, and augmenting it with the blue ring only makes sense.
Also, think of the parties, guys. She'd throw a totally awesome party with a ring.
