One Year on FimFiction: Get to Know Your Guyver - 50 Questions

While it's probably coming a bit late, I've officially been a member of Fimfiction.Net for one whole year, and what a ride it's been. To celebrate, I thought I'd take this week to open myself up a little bit to those of you who have graciously chosen to follow me, whether because of my own story, my comments on others, or simply because we've struck up a friendship within the vast expanse of this online community.

I figured the best way to break the ice would be with a quick round of 50 questions. Yes, I know this kind of thing is so last month, but cut me a little slack. It's not easy keeping up with all the latest fads . . . *tosses a slammer down on a pile of pogs while checking on the status of a Tomagatchi and rewinding a MiniDisc player*

In any case, feel free to add to this list with your own questions, which I'll compile to answer in a later blog post. Questions related more specifically to answers given here will be answered (as best as can be) in the comments below. So then, here we go!

1. What's your first name?
Mares (sike!) It's actually John; unique, I know.

2. How old are you?
30 years old with change.

3. What country are you from?
The United States of America.

4. What do you really look like?
Apparently a lot of different people, because all the time strangers are coming up to me thinking I'm somebody else.

5. What do you wish you looked like?
Could stand to be a little more toned, physically, I guess.

6. How did you come across MLP?
The interwebs. I honestly don't remember exactly how I came across the fandom, but it was likely through the plethora of artwork on DeviantArt and videos on Youtube.

7. Favorite MLP ship?
TwiDash, TwiJack, Twixie, Twinkie, Twirilee, TwiDerpy, Twilestia . . . Bascially, Twilight and anypony.
I also like Sparity, Derpy/Doctor Hooves, Derpy/Celestia, and the canon shipping of Cadance/Shining Armor.

8. Least favorite MLP ship?
I can't say I have a least favorite, but I don't read foalcon (outside of PG-rated friendshipping, or unless they've been properly aged up), incest, or clop, so I guess that cuts out some options right there.

9. Have you admitted to anyone outside of Fimfiction that you love MLP?
No.

10. Were they family?
N/A

11. Favorite MLP Episode?
"Magical Mystery Cure." *dodges hail of rotten tomatoes*

12. Favorite superhero?
Superman ("Who are you?" "A friend.")

13. Favorite anti-hero?
The Shadow ("Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow Knows!")

14. Favorite supervillain?
Venom ("We will eat your brains!!" )

15. Favorite anti-villain?
Mr. Freeze ("It would move me to tears . . . if I still had tears to shed.")

16. Last book you read?
I tend to have multiple books going at the same time, so . . .

Divergent, and I'm going to see Godzilla next weekend! *squee*

18. Favorite song at the moment?
Whatever happens to be playing on the radio, I guess.

19. What song do you always come back to?
Anything on this playlist. Works to get the blood pumping every time.

20. What is your current job?
Clinical Psychologist (though technically I'm a Psychology Resident until I obtain my licensure).

21. If this is not your final job what job do you want in the future?
I might consider teaching, or at least getting involved in some kind of University counseling setting. I've always loved an academic environment.

22. What is your dream job?
I've worked so hard to get where I am now, I haven't really allowed myself to think of doing anything else.

23. At this moment in your life, what is your greatest achievement?
Completing my clinical internship and obtaining my doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Moving to my current job by driving a UHaul with my car on a trailer across 4 states by myself comes a close second.

24. At this moment in your life, what is your greatest failure?
Not being there for my family as much as I feel I should have been, or that I feel I should be.

25. Do you have any pets?
None currently.

26. What is your dream pet?
A dachshund. Such funny looking little dogs, I love 'em.

27. Do you own any weapons?
I consider my golf umbrella a makeshift beat-stick if I ever need to defend myself in the rain, but otherwise, no, I don't.

28. Is there a gun you really want?
Not particularly. I've fired guns at a range for sport and training certifications before, but I've never actually thought of or felt a need to own one, personally.

29. What Religion are you?
I would say that I have a Christian-based moral grounding, but in practice tend to be more of a spiritual agnostic.

30. If you could hang out with one person in all of history who would it be?
Albert Einstein, and maybe Eddie Rickenbacker.

31. If you could bring back one person from the dead for one day who would it be?
My Dad.

32. Are you political?
I vote when there are elections, but I'm not affiliated with any political party and not really involved in politics otherwise.

33. Are you married?
No.

34. Do you have a special somepony?
No.

35. Have a crush on anyone?
Not at present.

36. Care to explain?
Life has kept me waaayy too busy to venture out into the dating scene.

37. Do you consider yourself attractive?
I've had my appearance compared to Matt Damon, but that was my mother saying that, so make of it what you will.

38. If you could spend one day with someone still alive who would it be?
A friend I made during my clinical internship.

39. Who is your favorite pony?
Her Royal Highness, Princess Twilight Sparkle of Ponyville, by the Grace of Celestia Princess of Friendship, Ascended Bearer of the Element of Magic, ward of the Great and Honorable Spike the Brave and Glorious. :facehoof

40. Any embarrassing secrets you would like to share?

41. If you have done any stories/art what is your favorite piece?
Probably this one. While it's certainly not a very dynamic image, the linework and coloring took me forever to do by hand, so I'm pretty proud of the final result.

42. Are you a virgin?

43. What is the craziest thing you have done in your life that you have no regrets about?
I can't say I've ever done anything particularly "crazy;" I'm a pretty boring person. I guess doing three solo touch-and-go landing/takeoffs in a Cessna 152 as part of flight training could be considered a little crazy. Particularly after the first plane they put me in turned out to have faulty spark plugs (which I diagnosed and caught during run-up procedures, thankfully).

44. What is the craziest thing you have done in your life that you have regrets about?
Probably thinking I could take Introductory Japanese while enrolled in Honors courses and participating full-time in Air Force ROTC during my first year of undergraduate education. To say that I BOMBED epically would be understating matters.

45. Do you have a fetish of any kind?

I'm sure I have, though I can't remember specific instances. Most of the time I take great care not to hurt other people's feelings, deliberately or otherwise.

Yes, I believe I did.
