For the second time... · 8:39am May 28th, 2012
...My home PC is broken. Again. I'm thinking I should probably just buy a new one, instead of getting my old one fixed for a second time. Can anyone recomend a good desktop PC? (No Apple products. I hate the way they designed the mouse, it doesn't even have a scroll button!)
I'm wanting something that's fairly in-expensive, but it still needs to be fast enough to run my games (Minecraft, L4D2, Battlefield).
Anyone got any suggestions?

If your in the market for a new computer, I feel I should ask if you want pre-built or if you prefer to assemble your own. If you want to play games like Battlefield 3, the latter may be the better option if you have it. If building is the rout you wish to take, I have put together a little set-up on newegg that should suffice your needs quite well (all in USD):
Antec Nine Hundred Case: 99.99
Seagate Barracuda 1T 7200 RPM HDD: 99.99
EVGA GTX 570: 269.99
Corsair Enthusiast series TX650 650W: 89.99
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM: 99.99 (with a 20.00 Newegg promo card)
Intel Core i5 3450 Ivory Bridge 3.1 GHz + Biostar TZ77B Z77 motherboard + Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 X 4GB) DDR3 1600: 319.97
Subtotal running you about 980 USD, not sure what the conversion rate is on that though. Being from different sides of the pond, these prices may be completely different but it does give you something to look at anyway.
EDIT: Oops. I just did a quick look on the web and realized there is no newegg in UK. I feel kind of sheepish right now as the pricing I just gave you are near meaningless. Derp on me I guess
139957 Heh... there is no "newegg" in the UK, but I'm sure I could find all the gear you talked about on the interwebs somewhere. (Oh, and in case you were wondering how I'm posting these with a broken computer, I'm updating from college.)
As for the computer, I'm thinking about this: And because I don't need to buy new monitors and all that shit, It turns out fairly cheap, around 840.00 GBP, which works out at about 1,319.30 USD... Wait, what? 1,319.30 USD? I knew the US economy was struggling, but seriously? I must have just made a mistake with the conversion...
141317 wow. That's just awful. And I checked it myself and that is about right. I'm a tad disappointed in my country right now
but anyway, that seems like a good deal. However, I don't know what is a good deal with PC parts over there so I can only guess. Seems to be about 215 pounds more (if I'm even saying that right) than the estimate I gave you based on the currency converter. Still not a bad alternative considering some sites I've seen that overcharge for every little thing.
