Bloodpool

I'm not much of a writer, but if you need information on the many weapons of war that humanity has fielded over the centuries, I'm the guy to ask.

    Ideas!

Question: Have any of you ever read any of the books from the series "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman?

If the awnser is yes, then hooray! You'll know what I'm talking about! If it's no, here's a link to a brief(ish) summary of the three books that make up the series.

    Battlefield: Equestria (An unfortunate occurrence)

As you may or may not know, I have very recently been working, setting up and generally preparing for "going live" with Battlefield:Equestria's new website.

    Upcoming stuff.

Here's a little spoiler for my next story, which was inspired by this image.

I think I was human once.

That's what the memories say. These memories were mine, I think. Little more than emotions now, faded by time. A thousand fractured images swirl in what I assume is my mind. Faces, places, people and things.

    Dragonball Pony

For those of you who just want to watch that pretty damn awesome fight scene again, here it is!

Also, I think that's the first time I've ever been fully justified in using the term "Fight Scene" in regards to an episode of MLP. Weird.

Question: Have any of you ever read any of the books from the series "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman?

If the awnser is yes, then hooray! You'll know what I'm talking about! If it's no, here's a link to a brief(ish) summary of the three books that make up the series.

Anyway, in the books, there are things called daemons. They take the form of animals, and are an external representation of one's "inner self".

So, I had an idea.

What if Ponies had something similar?

I came to a quick conclusion here; if the "daemons" the humans have in "His Dark Materials" take the form of animals, then surely the Pony "daemons" would take the form of humans? It sounded like a pretty good idea to me!
So I've decided that I want to write a story based around this premise. Though it will share similar mechanics in terms of the way Daemons work in the "His Dark Materials" series, but it's not going to be a crossover. It's much better described as an alternate universe (AU) story.

Because crossovers are hard to do (properly).

Anyway, I digress; here's a quick breakdown of how I envision the system working.
• “Daemons” achieve physical form when the associated pony receives their cutie mark. A pony’s “Daemon” will also share the same mark, usually located on the palm or the back of the left hand.
• “New” Daemons are always the approximate age of the associated pony (whenever they get their mark). From this point on, daemon and pony age at the same rate.
• Daemons usually only talk to their own associated ponies, but they can communicate with other ponies and with other daemons autonomously.
• Equines are the only race that have daemons in this universe.
• Daemons are almost universally the opposite gender to their associated ponies. (Humanised and Gender flipped? The purists among you are going to hate me!)
• Having a large distance between a pony and his/her daemon does not cause any ill effects, though it’s unusual for a pony not to have his/her daemon close by.
• If either the pony or associated daemon is killed, both die.
• Pony and daemon share a mild physic link; if they’re separated from each other, they will both be able to get a vague idea of how the other is feeling, and they will both be able to tell (Roughly) how far away the other is, and in which direction.

So, thoughts on this?
