    Raining

    It's raining outside
    Maybe inside too
    I can't tell though
Inside, I can't feel the rain on my skin

    Perhaps it's just the temperature
    That would explain the cold
But not why I hear the rain falling
a steady drip-drip down my nose

I'm standing in the rain, you see
It splashes from skin to shirt
    And if it's not raining
Then why are my eyes so wet?

    It's hailing outside

Anyways, happy Single's Awareness Day! Those of you enjoying the day, kudos to you. Those of you suffering from this day... my condolences.

    Another year

Another year I walk the sands
They shift and change beneath my feet
Yet through it all I walk.

Another year I see the others walk the sands
Some falter and slip beneath the sand
Others lay roads for still later others to tread

The roads vanish beneath the sands
And yet they are the sands themselves
So perhaps they never were, or still are

Some do not walk the sands like I

Derivations and You: a note about Derivative worlds and their tags. · 8:25pm Jun 21st, 2012

This is information regarding the tags associated with worlds in The End of All Worlds.
A World Derivative is the mark of how far from its original "parent" world it has traveled.

A Utopia world has gotten better than its parent world, improving the peace and prosperity of its inhabitants in some way or another. An example of this is the world Earth 1114, in which the 'Matrix' virtual reality unit went live and provided a comfortable and enjoyable world for all living humans, providing them with the challenges and opportunities they need to stimulate the mind and provide happiness in full truth. And the machines haven't needed to kill a single person to do it.

A Standard derivation is a world that is functionally the same, but has differences from the original that set it apart. These are often called Parallel Dimensions, as they are often extremely similar, minus a few key differences. Examples include Earth 8821, in which I am writing this from my home in New Hampshire (which in this world I've never even been to) because my parents moved east instead of west, became obscenely rich, and gave me the rights to do whatever I want. But, on the whole, the world isn't that different.
Also, there is Equestria 1773, In which the roles of Luna and Celestia are reversed, with the Daymare having been locked away for 1000 years and Luna ruling the land peaceably for those years, until the Elements of Harmony where used to redeem her as she returned from the sun, where she had been imprisoned. But the world is functionally the same.

A Distopian world has gotten worse for tis inhabitants, such as in Equestria 3357, in which Nightmare Moon overtook Celestia, killing her, and then shattered Discord's statue, killing him. In this world, Nightmare Moon has been a tyrant of the worst kind, forcing slavery and darkness on all her subjects, and making them live on the fungal life that has thrived in her eternal night.
However, that's a near worst-case scenario.

In a Dead world, all sentient life has been extinguished, and there is no source for it to come about. They are lifeless, and cannot sustain life in most cases.
the only recorded derivative that was registered as a Dead world reality was Marathon 0226, in which humanity had used a powerful weapon to disrupt all life-forces in the entirety of the universe, miscalculated, and wiped all possible life from their reality. Needless to say, this world is off limits.
Most Dead World realities are simply named with ID tags to show their lack of habitability.

A Horror derivative is one in which the worst has happened, or can happen at any time. Zombies, Thing Sentient Life Wasn't Supposed to Find Out About, and eternal legions of Lawyers haunt these worlds, making life a living hell in them. however, what marks out a world of this type is that the 'normal' inhabitants are strangely unaware of these possible horrors, and that the parent world has none of these horrors in it naturally, or to an extremely lesser extent. The world in which 'Cupcakes' takes place is one such world, in which the idea of Pinkie Pie being a terrifying psychopath actually happen. Another example are the worlds portrayed in most horror movies. In The Thing, there is a sentient being that infects and absorbs all life it encounters, slaughtering all it encounters.

Alternative derivatives are ones in which a key difference is made in a world, causing a ripple to form, that produces a new world.
Examples include so-called Gender-Bender worlds, which are the same as the parent, but with the flipped gender of noteworthy individuals. This causes the world to turn out much differently, as society has a way of making things that are remarkable for one gender impossible or commonplace for the other.
Another example is of a so-called If world, in which a possible difference is in place of what happened in the parent world, such as if the Americas had advanced in technology faster than Europe, and the native Americans had invaded Europe, rather than the other way around.
That world involves lots of Irishmen killing "injuns", and is a great vacation spot if you have a significant enough level of stealth to not get dragged into the fighting.

Parasite worlds are an anomaly, a type of world that latches onto another world and imposes some of its rules onto that world. The most prominent example of this is the Fae worlds, which have their own rate of time progression, steal beings from the worlds they attach to, and are usually much more magically adept than the worlds they attach to. Parasite worlds are considered very dangerous, and can often kill or enslave unwary travelers ensnared by the illusion of similarity to their host world.
A prime example of a parasite world that had invaded another universe is Draconequus, a which left a large group of its population spread across the timelines of the Equestria worlds. Most of these invaders have been imprisoned at this point, although some of the more altruistic denizens of the parasite world used the opportunity to escape, and assisted the worlds they encountered.

Unique is the descriptor for a reality that, for whatever reason, does not branch like the others. Instead of splitting off and creating alternates, it exists entirely on its own, with no derivatives, no alternates, no parallels whatsoever. So far, less than ten such worlds have been discovered that aren't parasite worlds, and each of these is a highly-classified secret, with the exception of Tchokisa, it being the "home" of this entire research staff, and indeed the primary fund supplier and founder of the largest interstitial exploration project currently know, other than the Endless Collective's dominion.

A world labeled as a Tech world is one in which there is no natural magic. while the world isn't necessarily hostile to magic, there's no natural wellsprings of magic on any level, resulting in a relatively rapid technological march, as there is less of the mystic in the world to distract from it. (but humans and other similar species are paranoid by nature, and tend to create superstitions even without good reason)
Some of these worlds are actively hostile to magic, draining or annihilating magic that dares encroach on the reality. These worlds often have advanced sciences early in their timelines, and sometimes kill themselves off.

An Apocalypse world is one in which the end of days has come, and gone. Most or all life in the world is dead, the afterlife(s) is(are) packed, and there's usually lots of raw minerals exposed and available. Lots of ruins, too. Earth 28947 bombed itself into this state.

there are more, and will be added as necessary. If you wish to designate a character to have been from a particular derivative type, please say so when submitting the character.

:fluttershysad:
oh...
well, then, I hope to see it when you submit it! :pinkiehappy:

I like this. But what are some of the ways a parisite world can effect other worlds?

154921
An example of the ways a Parasite world can effect an independent world is that a parasite world with a high timeflow can "bleed" time into its host, causing the passage of time to slow in certain pockets of the world, and speed up in others, forming a sort of chronological weather system that won't go away for an incredible distance from when the parasite attached.
Another example is that if a parasite world with with violently different life-forms interacts with it's host in more than a cursory manner, it can devastate or infect the populace of its host. An example is the world Flood343, the origin of the Flood prevalent in all of the Halo world lines, as the parasite world attached to the timeline very early on. It has since permanently merged with its host.
A third example is of a world with entirely different rules of reality interfacing with another, such as Fae connecting to ours and allowing Magic to be used by humans, and initiating magical genesis of species not native to Earth1012 (us) such as Dragons, Were-Beasts, etc.
Fae has repeatedly latched onto the Earth timeline, and has almost always caused an Alternative Derivative each time.
btw, I'm updating the blog to have a link to the project this is info for.

OH MY GAWD! Um.....HOLD ON! I'L BRB WITH A FULLY TYPED OUT SHEET OF INFO!!!

Will

Age:12-15

Blonde(medium-length) Hair
Green Eyes

Carries around a flute that belonged to an important family member.

He is also a ...PsychoKinetic, for lack of a better phrase. He can't do much other than the few things bestowed upon MOST PK Users....Well, He can spin his flute in front of him using PK to cause a magnet of sorts....Anything Rooted to the ground won't move though.

He can propel himself forward hard enough to break down crumbling walls, knock over rocks...Nothing too horribly special. He happens to be aquaintances with Gaia, the.."Dark Messenger" I think it was? Gawd...It's been too long since I've played Illusion Of Gaia....

However, He can't speak to him except in Dark Spaces...Which only exist in HIS realm. Ergo, No more powers other than Propelling and pulling things.

He's Agile, But not too strong physically, He tries to help people all that he can, and he can easily tell what card you will draw from a full, shuffled deck of playing cards.

......Actually.....I'll just add a link to get you the basic info, it's been WAY too long for me to tell you myself....

I REALLY hope you like HCBailey..

I actually don't care how you portray him, but if he makes the cut......

I

WILL

SQUEE SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!

Needs to be on the other blog, but otherwise looks pretty good.

Got one character that saved his world from my version of the prime evils and lives on an earth where magic was sealed and was finally unleashed in the 1700's. Magic then seeped into every day use after a fiasco with the Vatican. This allowed the creation of magi-tech. I guess he lives in an alternate world.

His name is Podos Blackheart, he lives in an alternate earth and has earned the title of an ascended human for being one of the most powerful humans in his world. here's his details.

Podos Blackheart
Alternate Earth 2009

Black shorth-length hair
Silver eyes
Age: 23-28

duel wields two heavily enchanted daggers that absorbs energy from the soul and gives it to him

He's an crafty fighter, preferring to attack wherever an opening occurs even when it's dishonorable. he has SOME muscles but not enough to matter. On the outside he's a jerk, but get close enough to him and he protects you with his very life. He's a deadpan snarker no matter the situation, He hates naivety over anything else. believing that one should always live in the here and now rather than worry about someones past wrongs. Always has a plan to kill anything and anyone.

His power derives from his inner aura. which also reinforces his skin to take a beating. Should he become too tired he'll be as defenseless as a naked civilian. Has a high amount of stamina, but can burn too quickly from over exertion. His weakness is being hit by either fire spells or ice spells as he hates extreme temperatures. He also has a fear of ghosts that dominates his senses should he encounter one. He could either panic and try to attack said ghost, or Run away screaming like a little girl.

Has enough leadership skill to lead a small group of four or five but any more than that and he starts to panic.

So... Is this guy good enough? By himself he doesn't make a huge difference but when he's in a group he can help turn the tide of battle. He does use dirty tactics to win but that's the way he was taught.

Try to let me know as soon as you can.

Please move this post to the End of All Worlds blog, and then I'll say yea or neigh. I mean, "nay".
But it looks pretty good so far.

Also, be sure to read the post I made a few comments ago in said blog about my preferred submission format.
The background is nice, though.
