I'm alive! Also Season 4 finale w/***SPOILERS*** · 1:41am May 11th, 2014
Hello all you ponies out in fan fiction land! Remember me? Well, I'm still around, so have no fear! Writing is still a very large part of my day, and I'm not getting rusty yet! However, most of my writing is for graduate school, on top of work, on top of everything else, and I'm fairly certain I've been over this, but regardless, I have not even come close to giving up! Never! Expect more at some point in the near future!
SEASON 4 FINALE SPOILERS INCOMING

Hoo whee! Quite the amazing finale, wouldn't you say? I'll leave the reviews to the experts, but I loved it! The songs were amazing, the concept of all of the other alicorn princesses putting their power into Twilight was really cool, bursting with potential and awesomeness! It also made for what is in my opinion one of, if not THE best fight sequence in the entire series! I maaaaaay be a little biased due to my liking of Dragonball Z, but when you can pull off moves like that in a show that's rated "Y" I must say that it is very cool ^.~ Also of course, there's the little fact that there are very few actual combat sequences, but DANG! Twilight got shoved through an entire mountain! On top of everything else, her horn must have been working overtime to maintain that kind of damage resistance.
Also apparently, if we are to take Tirek's pre-absorbing-alicorn-magic strength into account where he pretty much sucked most of Equestria's denizens dry of magic, it would take the ***entirety of Equestria*** to equal the amount of magic produced by the four alicorns. Wow. One has to wonder how much raw magic those ladies are packing, eh? I guess it does take a lot to raise the sun, moon, and… rule the Crystal Empire? I figured Cadence would be the Princess of Love, right? Well, whatever.
Twilight got to lower the moon and raise the sun! Sort of! Eventually! I'd love there to be an entire episode in which her magic powers went all nuts like that. Random teleportation, accidentally blowing up doors, turning an entire pond of frogs into ribbitting oranges! In that vein, while flying under the other princesses' magic, Twilight had a cool Rainbow Dash-esque streak behind her. I am truly glad she didn't do a "Sonic Sparkleboom." I can't imagine that being good for Dash's ego (or uniqueness). I mean, that's HER thing! But I guess that's another point for canon! They specifically did say in "Sonic Rainboom" that not even Princess Celestia has been able to pull that move off. Maybe it takes something completely different than pure speed and magical flying power? Like I said, so much potential!
As for the ending, I think it worked out great. Except of course for Twilight's library/house getting fireballed… but at least her owl is all right. All her books, sans maybe one or two? Completely gone. All her memories? Good thing she has a good memory. At least she gets a nifty crystal castle out of the deal. Her friends even get thrones of their own! In THAT vein, from what I remember, the thrones were sitting in a roughly circular pattern, meaning no one pony was more "important" than another, kind of like the Round Table in King Arthur's story. He had it set up like that on purpose, you see. A perfectly placed set up for the best of friends, amiright? They even had one for Spike, too! A smaller one, granted, but he's still a baby, and with those stubby legs, I doubt he can even reach the ground at that height!
Finally, the transformations. You know what? I'm fine with them. They actually look pretty cool, if I'm to be honest. Would I want them to look like that all the time? No. The colors are really offensive (in the "too bright! Aaaahhhh! My eeeeeeeyyyyyeeessss!" way), but as a power-up theme, I think they're awesome. I noticed that each of them kind of gets a cutie mark based on Twilight's pattern, with many shapes and one BIG one somewhere, as well as ones covering their hooves. That, combined with the bodacious color changes and the MEGA MANES poofed out and flowing like that really emphasizes the kind of power that they're channeling, all coming together for a wonderful effect!
But that's my opinion! Huzzah for Season 4! *pops champagne*

The entirety of Equestria plus Discord. I considered this too, and I found it outright terrifying. Thank goodness they're the good guys!
At any rate, I loved the finale too. I plan to post my full thoughts on it later, but there's pretty much nothing negative I have to say about it. And I'm glad to see you're still around! Good luck with grad school.

Also, thanks! It's going pretty well so far and I'm learning a lot, so that's great! It's online, and I find it a bit harder, but I'm getting used to it bit by bit.
