    I'm alive! Also Season 4 finale w/***SPOILERS***

Hello all you ponies out in fan fiction land! Remember me? Well, I'm still around, so have no fear! Writing is still a very large part of my day, and I'm not getting rusty yet! However, most of my writing is for graduate school, on top of work, on top of everything else, and I'm fairly certain I've been over this, but regardless, I have not even come close to giving up! Never! Expect more at some

What story genres do you prefer?

We all probably know which genres of stories we like and don't like. That much is fairly obvious, considering FiMFiction even has an option for searching for stories based on which genre they are. Admittedly, I haven't used that tool at all just yet, but maybe if I really want to find that perfect comedy or read an example of how to write drama, I'll go to the good ol' search engine and sift

    Writing stuff!

Hey guys! I have published the next chapter of IWBTM, as you can see. I just didn't expect it to take all day! Phew! That was a lot of typing. I definitely wasn't expecting the chapter to be so long, but I sort of had a feeling about it once I wrote the beginning parts to it. Anyways, if anyone feels like they can help with some errors or idiosyncrasies with either of my stories, not just IWBTM,

What story genres do you prefer? · 12:40am Apr 14th, 2013

We all probably know which genres of stories we like and don't like. That much is fairly obvious, considering FiMFiction even has an option for searching for stories based on which genre they are. Admittedly, I haven't used that tool at all just yet, but maybe if I really want to find that perfect comedy or read an example of how to write drama, I'll go to the good ol' search engine and sift through a bunch of stories! I also have yet to take my intended trip into that section to find a riveting Daring Do story I can sink my teeth into; I look forward to seeing how people portray our adventurous heroine. I also almost always find comedy stories to be awesome, but done right, slice of life ones can really be engaging and rewarding. But I'm sure all of the other ones have their merits as well. I typically, if not always, avoid dark or sad stories because I don't want anything to harsh my buzz. But hey, if they're worth reading, gimme a suggestion if you like! It might even get me into the genre. Who knows?

But anyway, how about you guys? What genre (or genres) do you prefer over others?

I very much enjoy Slice of Life stories, and if they're spliced with the Sad genre, I'm all for it. I don't know why, but I just adore a good, sad story. Just an inherent preference, I suppose.

I do occasionally like to delve into a long, dark Adventure story, though. I can't keep up with too many at once, but I'll occasionally just get really into one and read it all the way through in a marathon reading session. It's a good way to pass the time. The best story I've read that fits this description is probably The Immortal Game; I fell in love with that one.

As for stories I don't usually like, anything with Romance, Crossover, Humans, or Sci-Fi generally turns me away; it's a shame since that's about 70% of what I see around here, haha. Some of them are very well done, though. Exceptionally good writing can make me stick through one of those genres anytime.
