    Dishing out points for 2014

Well, here we are. The semis are over and done with, and we have our list of 26 songs for the final, so now I can go ahead and proclaim myself the least cool person on the planet by dealing out my points. Usual rule: It goes from 1 through 8, 10 and 12, and I can't vote for my own country.

    Slovenia, 1 point.
    Malta, 2 points.
    Italy, 3 points.
    Montenegro, 4 points.
    Armenia, 5 points.

    Eurovision 2014 - It's That Time Again (part 1)

    Sooo...

First off, my apologies for not writing more stuff. Not overflowing with ideas, and while I know that the writer's mantra is "write!", I feel no need to publish what I'd perceive as inferior material. When (not if) I get new ideas for stories, I'll get started again. Promise.

Alright, now I'm a little unhappy

To whoever had the glorious idea of submitting "Love Will Set You Free" to the Canterlot Archives: Thank you for making my day just a little less bright. I know that what I write is not top-tier stuff (which is what the Archives are all about), but I really did not need someone else telling me in words that were none too kind. I can handle brutal criticism of my work when I ask for it - as a

    Oof. Semis are exhausting.

Well, about half an hour ago, we got our 10 qualifiers from the second semi, to go along with the Big Five, the host, and the 10 qualifiers from Tuesday night.

One and a half hours to go... · 5:37pm May 26th, 2012

Well, semi 2 on Thursday was an uneven mix of joy and frustration for me. The Netherlands got the short end, again (the eighth time in a row they've failed to get past the semi), but Macedonia are in. Yay!

Serbia drew one of the best starting slots for the final, at 24 (late draw is better), and between two uptempo songs, the ballad can really shine.

For the still completely irrelevant record: out of the four songs in semi 2 serving as chapter titles, two (Macedonia and Estonia) got through, while Slovakia and the Netherlands didn't make it. The chapter title songs that made it to the final will be performed as follows:

"Love Will Set You Free" at #1
"Sound of Our Hearts" at #2 (nice coincidence, that)
"Echo (You and I") at #9
"Crno i belo" at #22
"Kuula" at #11
"Quédate conmigo" at #19
"When the Music Dies" at #13
"Standing Still" at #20
"Never Forget" at #7
"Party for Everybody" at #6

Great favourites this year: Sweden (at #17, good slot, but she finishes a glut of four female-fronted uptempo songs), Russia (#6, but that performance is pretty much draw-proof) and Italy (at #10). My personal favourites are Macedonia, Iceland and Italy, only the last of which has any real chances of troubling the upper ends of the scoreboard, unfortunately.

On a semi-related note: that sequel to "Love Will Set You Free" is still in the works; after finishing the first two chapters, I realized there was something else in the downtime between the stories that I needed to write about, so I'm currently working on a prologue (spoilers: it's about that month-long separation of Spike and Apple Bloom mentioned in the epilogue of "Love Will Set You Free"). Working title for the sequel is "L'amore è femmina (Out of Love)", Italy's contribution to the 2012 ESC.

Well, time for the last preparations. I'll post here again when everything is over and done with tonight. Until then, ramble off.

Finally, I reconsidered my thoughts and have seen the contest. Not bad. My favorite ones are Iceland, Russia and Romania. Turkey guys have done an original performance with their cloaks.

Also, about Ireland...

Funny thing, I began plotting things that might happen at your stories after seeing some of the songs' titles.

It's a good thing to kow that you're not only working on the awaited sequel, but on a prequel as well. I'll eagerly wait for them.

PS: It's almost a pity that "Quédate conmigo" was the name of one of the chapters of LWSYF. Its title and lyrics would fit pretty well as prequel's name.
