How the hell?

You know what I never have (and never will) get? How, anyone, ANYONE, can sympathize with the Conversion Bureau 'verse ponies.
They come in, judge us unworthy of existence... And begin to exterminate us.
And don't give me any "but the conversion victims are happier as ponies!" bullshit, you can't just "turn off" undesireable traits in a person and think for a second, that they are still that person.
You go into a bureau... And instead of you coming out, It's some sugar-coated mockery of who you were. For food or for ill, It's murder.
And they give you only two choices; assimilate, and be replaced by some pleasently smileing zombie; Or die, as that thrice damned barrier claims the places you once called home.
Tis nothing less than Xenocide.
