Equestria Girls review · 10:36am Mar 20th, 2014
Nothing like mocking The Hunger Games and writing a little tribute tune to start a new review on ponies turning into 'Doug' extras. This was set into an actual theatrical film, and I never bothered to travel. Thank god the universe has given us the bootleg property. The audience hated this... trailer when it first appeared. When the movie was given to us, the audience was shocked...with grins. It was appealing and people thought it was okay. What did Roy think? Well...
It was indeed awesome! There were problems, lacking of original content when it's basically an hour long TV special, but it was awesome. Let's shit on the shit before we get to the wit. First, long story short, the villain was lame. The design was very bright and classy, especially with Sunshine turning into a demon.
"When I'm done with you, Sparkle, I'll finally DESTROY the fanship!"
Dammit, I knew that joke would end up somewhere here. She made plans that are immensely flawed, she's not intimidating at all, and snips and snails are with her. 1) Those two are officially underground sugar daddies. 2) Sunshine would be great in Panty and Stocking. I'm sorry, but Sunshine was the stupidest, laziest, sexiest, and most unappreciated villain the writers have made, and King Zombras was just there in Season 3. Secondly, the shipping point was dull and lazy. I know this was a 'Spin-off', but come on. One of my followers gave me better ships than this, this was nothing but a facebook conversation that shuts down instantly. Or it's basically what Twitter is about. It doesn't provide anything later on in the series nor the sequel. I bet a quarter it won't be. Think this is stupid? Eddy doesn't think so.
"Oh, I'll make Appledash look like Showgirls 2."
Lastly, I can't stand how slow this was. It felt like the movie could've cut a few shitty evil schemes short. Seriously, Nasty Canasta was a better square dancer in a round house than she was. Other than that, it's amazing!
The animation, especially at the end, is beautiful and jaw-dropping. The color palette for the humans are basically what they were in the pony world. Rainbow Dash became crest paste and Fluttershy almost made me make her best pony. Almost, Hasbro, you foxy crypts. Some say people were offended by the girls lack of clothing. I'll just say Powerpuff Girls got away with going tier 15 with dirt. I'm sure only having possible sexual propaganda in an all age cartoon is perfectly fine. Now then, I'm okay with ponies turning human. Have you seen any other cartoon that done this as good as Equestria Girls? What about Fish Hooks? Note that that was stupid anyway and two that this was after EG. It kinda doesn't work in this situation. This is pretty innovative for Hasbro. Besides, they got rid of Dan Vs. and we have a drag superqueen that is just insulting. This wasn't amazing as the show, this was no step down. I say this is an acceptable special, and I'll watch it another time soon.
I give it a 8/10. While the problems bother me as a fan of this show, it doesn't bother as a cartoon lover. I say fans of the show will love it, and the sequel is worthy of trying. Seriously, no spoilers but a fat woman dances in this. I only hope, for worldwide DJs and Nowhacking, that Vinyl will have a suffice role in all this. Maybe because I've finally lost it, or I shouldn't have mixed fig newtons and hooch for that reception last friday. Bucktales, WHOOHOO! Macintosh out!
