"Ban Bossy" is a currently growing campaign, in America, to have the term.... no sorry, the WORD "bossy" banned. The campaign has managed to amass a huge following with insane amounts of media coverage, celebrity support and it keeps growing.
This... is probably the most pathetic thing I have heard of in a good while. We live in a society where we are perfectly capable of understanding the horseshit that this is.. right? Well clearly not, as the following seems to have the same message for anybody that would call out the flaws of the campaign.
To quote, "You miss the whole point. Boys who are leaders are never told they are bossy but girls who are leaders are often told they are bossy. It is not a campaign about the word. It is a campaign about how girls are treated!" Now, as we can see from this the main point is that people believe there is a double standard when it comes to a gender neutral word, I say... maybe.
Sure for myself and I'm sure many others this is not a problem, for example.
Girl A is leading a group task, she takes everybody's ideas into consideration and leads the groups main points while helping to organise the tasks given out to the other members. Bossy? No.
Boy A is leading a group task, he takes everybody's ideas into consideration and leads the groups main points while helping to organise the tasks given out to the other members. Bossy? No.
Girl B is leading a group task, she refuses to have it done any other way than her own and refuses to make progress with the work unless everything is done her way. Bossy? Yes.
Boy B is leading a group task, he refuses to have it done any other way than his own and refuses to make progress with the work unless everything is done his way. Bossy? Yes
So, what's the problem? Well, the group feels that younger girls are being bullied into not developing into leaders while boys are being encouraged.
While I, personally, feel that this is ton of poppycock, we must consider a few things.
Being a high school student I can tell you just a few terms that you will hear passed around most days.

However, my main beef with this whole thing is that in less than a week, this campaign to ban a WORD (Which by the way, if your American goes against your first Amendment right, so you guys inform them of this) has gotten more attention than some serious problems had in the same amount of time.
