A wise (and admittedly, half insane) human once claim that there was no better time for research and development than war time.
That man went to prison on charges of corruption, but his words live on. The Akkan class battlecruiser is a prime example of that war-inspired ingenuity. With a ship hull modeled after the Eva class cruise liners (the creator of which still fights legal battles for royalties on new Akkans), it had a thick hull to begin with. The Procyon Industries© team went to the Akkan's hull designer to find out more.
Much to the delight of its creator, a unicorn and self-described mad scientist called Lyra, said that "...my battlecruisers have nearly replaced the competition. The cruiser for the 1% is now 1% of the market!"
Unfortunately, further comments on the state of the free market couldn't be elicited out of the unicorn over her maniacal laughter. The interview was concluded when she killed the cameraman with a burst of magical energy.
Lyra is now the richest prisoner in the Estrella star system serving time for second-degree murder.
In other news, I'm trying my hand at a chapter 5 in the main story of Sins of a Friendly Empire. Sorry folks, whatever was or might've been scheduled for chapter 4 is cancelled. Which makes me very sad. I might try to rework it, but it's probably not going to work out. Ever.
But, since the chapter 5 wouldn't make ANY sense whatsoever unless you read it, here's a quick fic a minute.

Definitely writing the chapter. It's going well. The only problem is that it's feeling a bit off. And definitely incomplete. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm changing the release date to "Soon."
