Has anyone else noticed a lack of non-NSFW fics with tentacle monsters?
I'm still waiting for one where the tentacle monster is just your "average joe"; probably has a 2-year Degree in Computer Science or something it got from a community college before getting pulled into Equestria like so many humans have in other stories. It's not out to do unspeakable things to females. It just wants to get a job, pay the bills, and maybe save up for a nice vacation just like everyone else. Probably the first one of it's "family(?)" to get a college degree after all-- the parental units would be so proud of it!
Makes me wonder if ponies even know what a tentacle monster is. If they never had hentai from Japan (or whatever the Pony equivalent is to Japan) then it would pan out like typical HiE stuff. Not much potential for funny scenes.
Now, if they do have hentai and they know what tentacle monsters are supposed to do in all the naughty comics, well, now we have shenanigans. A well educated monster trying not to get bludgeoned or stuck with pointy sticks, explaining itself to any pony that doesn't faint dead away or flee. All the while, Ponyville goes into full panic mode as the rumor of a demonic beast in town goes around, each re-telling of the rumor getting more twisted and convoluted.
It's good enough for a one-shot at the least. Maybe a bit more if the shenanigans can be drawn out and the proper authorities are more bumbling than normal; not to mention slow to react. The key here being Twilight, since one letter from her and the Celestial wraith of Canterlot will be on the scene in two flaps of a pegasi's wing. Either the monster is never in the same place as Twilight so she thinks ponies are just being silly about a fictitious creature that only exists in naughty comics, because Fate loves shenanigans... or it encounters her first and convinces her that it's quite peaceful and just wants to get back home-- or at least not get run through with pointy sticks. I'd rather go with the former, it's more comedy gold.
This is kinda one of the main threads of Ghastly's Ghastly Comic, though I know not if it's still up. It is (incredibly) NSFW, but …it does fit the whole "tentacle monster is not into that" bit.
