Now what? · 3:10pm Feb 21st, 2014
I submitted my first story and I am actually kind of surprised. Well I guess not that surprised. It has a few nice views, a few likes, and a few favorites. I wasn't expecting any favorites, but it was my first story. I wasn't 100% sure what to expect. It's hard to tell if it's really a success or not, but more likes then dislikes I guess I might as well call it one and keep the story going. Now that brings up the question of what to do next.
I have an idea for how I can continue the story. The kind of general idea is conflict is introduced, then rarity has to overcome the conflict with the help/motivation of one of the other mane six well learning a lesson in her helpers element. (In part one, she defeats bandits to save Applejack and learns a lesson about being open and honest about herself.) It was an accident that this theme made it into the first part, but I figure I can keep it going.
The idea I have for the next part is rarity goes back to Ponyville, but she brings trouble with her. Another gunslinger wants to fight rarity and rarity will have to work with twilight well learning a lesson in magic and in friendship. Now the nutty part is that the details of the idea are nutty. (Hint it involves magic and was foreshadowed in the first part.) If I was to tell you the whole idea, I would have to preface it with "OK I know this is going to sound crazy, but just stick with me here." I am basically jumping the shark on my second episode.
I have other ideas after that. A griffin with dash, a bat-pony with Fluttershy. Then I need to think of what to do with pinky. No idea what to do with the element of laughter yet.
I'm going to try and get a new part up every 2.5 weeks about. That is how long it took me to do the first part. Times will vary though. Writers block and editors can slow and speed the process.
