    Spur of the moment decision?

    Spur of the moment decision.

I'm going to rewrite the Equestrian Knight trilogy, submitting one chapter per day until completion, so I can finally feel good about it and get back into writing.

    You can't stop me.

    It begins.

    Today!

    Please excuse this post...

...because I just wrote something I thought I needed to get out. I wrote it on Facebook, and I don't foresee it getting any interest here either, but I don't want it lost entirely. Also, some of you might be interested in what I have to say (not likely) but here it is:

On the Grammar of Publishing Houses

I was in the store the other day and came across a book next to the checkout lane. There was a DVD of the same title next to it, but I couldn't be sure if the book inspired the movie or vice versa.

So, you're probably wondering where the hell I've been.

Uh... HEY, WHAT'S THAT?!

Now that you've calmed down, let me explain absolutely nothing and get on with what I was going to say.

I have a new story idea I'd like to work on, and I'd like you to join. If you don't, that's fine. If you do, that would be just lovely. Let me start with a clue:

"Letters to Ponyville"

Get it yet? No? Yeah, no one seems to... I'm really bad at this cluing in game. Anyway, I'm going to write an opening and, after reading it, I'd like you to participate. Here's how it's going to go down.

I'll write the Prologue, which will explain the setting and basic tone. You don't have to follow the tone exactly, because I'm hoping the readers will keep it in their minds when they read your part. Yes, that's right. YOUR PART.

After reading said prologue, I'd like you to think of a letter. It can be written by any pony to any pony (exceptions will be included in the prologue as to who can send a letter). Make no mistake, I will be writing letters as well, but this will be your chance to get your own abilities to paper. I will be editing and--only very rarely--adjusting the letters sent to me. After I have assured their completion with you, I will add it to the story with your credits in the author notes.

And yes, this WILL be a story. I've seen a few "stories" pop up here that's just a single letter and nothing more. I'm planning this to be a real epistolary (a novel written as a series of documents). But, you don't need to worry about following along, either. I want these letters from you to be an aside, what the rest of the world is doing. I want this story to feel alive, with ponies shown instead of implied as many stories do.

Now you might be wondering how this might be different from this group or that. (I heard mention of a group that does letters, but I forgot the name already. Shhhh.) This will be revealed in the prologue. But I guess I can give you a hint...

Ignore the fact that it's Twilight. What does the image make you think? I won't give you the answer I'm hoping you'll find. Anyway, that's enough about my plan, even if I'm hoping beyond hope that some of you will join in...

About my other stories.... Well, I'll try. I can't give any promises on a timetable, but believe that I haven't forgotten them. They are as much a joy for me to write as they are for you to read, and I'm not planning to drop them any time soon.

My hand is healed (sans multiple scars that will probably be with me for life) and I feel ready to start anew. Be ready.

Sounds interesting. When's the prologue coming? I'd like to give it a shot!

I can't stop thinking about it, so I'm going to set up some musics to match what I want to write and get started tomorrow. Knowing me, I'll have it done on the same day as well, so expect it before the weekend.
