Alicorns and stuff

There are lots of stories about Twilight outliving her friends and dealing with the aftermath.
And that's fine. It's dramatic. It has impact. Authors can write about Twilight learning to cope, or going nuts, or whatever. Many already have.

There are a few stories about the entire Mane Six becoming alicorns.
Those are typically a little happier, though they tend to kill off Celestia and Luna and focus on everypony losing their family.

There are virtually no stories about Twilight saving her friends and living happily-ever-after.
No stories about Twilight going on an epic quest to prolong her friends' lives.
No stories about Rainbow Dash deciding what to do after officially becoming the world's fastest flyer.
No Applejack seeking out the weirdest, most exotic plants in the world to cultivate.
No Rarity being finagled into training the guard in martial arts.
No Fluttershy working up the nerve to address the public.
No Pinkie Pie suffering the most boring parties in existence.

And that's kinda sad, that we don't have happier stories.
