Today Is Going To Be Different · 5:30am Feb 8th, 2014
So after the feedback I'd received for What Love Really Is--which I intended to be my only story on this site--I've decided to make another story. I'll admit that it's been tough trying to come up with a genuinely good idea that either wasn't clop or something completely random. In the long run, I've settled on an idea that wasn't entirely random, but isn't very normal either. Personally, I've never been good at beginning a story, especially one with chapters, but I'm feeling kinda confident about this new one (Which should be up by tomorrow or the day after). All I'll say about it, is that it's supposed to be a big mind-fuck of a story--the name of which will most likely be the same as this post--with Caramel, Lily and a few other characters that the show hasn't completely fleshed out (since I'm not the best at making my own OCs), and hopefully, it'll be up to par with What Love Really Is, but if not then 'oh well' I guess.
Power to you. What Love Really Is was a solid work for any author, much less someone just starting out. You're gonna go far, kid
1810482 I appreciate the support The problem with this new story is the introduction chapter. I don't want to turn people away with either a poorly written or a poorly paced chapter.

I definitely hear that. First chapters are always rough. If it comes out poorly, see if you can skip further ahead in the plotline, start more in medias res. If you cannot, just try to have faith that your readers will plow through to Chapter 2; if you hook people with the tagline, and keep the first chapter short, the momentum will generally get them that far.
1810638 Yeah, I am starting the story off with a flash-forward, and I intend to have extensive uses of flash-forwards in the story, but I also fear of the readers losing track, even if I practically tell them that it is a flash-forward. I personally feel like the flash-forwards are done right though, but I could always be wrong.

Figuring out what readers can and can't infer is always tough. I struggle with that. Only way around it is to get a lot of prereaders, I'm afraid.
1810699 I can probably get prereaders, but that would require me to use my social skills, and I hate having to use my social skills But I could always get over it like I've done other things.

I'll preread for you. So that's one.
Go ahead and sent me a draft whenever you need to. I'll get to it when I've the time.
1810780 Sweet, thanks! I'll send a draft of the first chapter when I can, which should be soon. I would do it now but I'm on a tablet and I'd much rather be on a computer when I send it.
