When a story is all about defying expectations · 4:07pm Jan 29th, 2014
Can you write a story with its purpose solely being to defy the expectations of a reader? Well, yes, yes you can. In fanfiction, this type of story could be done even better, with most stories sort of following the same paths and developing similar lines of thought. I'm typing this just after reading a story that seemed to have been written just to defy expectations, with that as its explicit purpose, and I'm still trying to figure out whether or not it was a good idea. Of whether or not this concept creates something enjoyable to read, or is just something interesting for those whom tire of a genre that seems to have mass-produced stories emerge every few days?
On a completely separate and non-thoughtful note: I am incredibly ill, and am drifting in and out of consciousness. I did so twice while writing this. Probably why I decided to post all of this here. College is a wonderful place to pick up horrible diseases.
I defy reader expectation's every time update.
