Why Hate Flash Century? · 12:39pm Jan 21st, 2014

I know that this is going to seem like a very stupid question but I have to ask anyway. Why does almost everyone I meet hate Flash Century within the Brony Community? I mean I know for a fact that he was a Marty Stu within Equestria Girls but other then that, why does he revive so much hate from both male and female fans?

Well, I saw no one had commented on this blog post, something that really should have been done.

Why everypony hates Flash Sentry you ask?

Well, first off, I believe that an actual cannon shipping with Twilight Sparkle would seem very alien and concerning to some fans, including myself (as well as all the waifus stolen). Plus, he really just seemed to be fodder for a cliche'ed High School Prom Queen story that was Equestria Girls.

I mean, the romance itself is ~~pretty~~ really bad. This is probably the most shallow boy/coltfriend a mare could get. You just don't get any more generic than this. There is nothing that he has that would get the audience to root for HIM. He has no conflict with himself and out of no where in the movie he just appears and is immediately considered twilight's Romantic Partner, which I pray to Celestia he isn't-wait. Oh. He appeared in a recent episode.

Also, there would have been a fairly interesting ex-boyfriend plot where Flash Sentry used to be Sunset Shimmer's boyfriend, but it didn't go anywhere. Literally. It was mentioned ONCE, and never brought up again.

There was also the side plot where Twilight was framed for wrecking the dance hall, but guess who came to the rescue and shut it all down?

In all, most people hate him due to his lack of screen time, little to no unique personality, stolen waifus, and overall, far-fetched idea of Twilight being romantically shipped at first with, let's not forget, a human.

If you think about it, it sounds like bad fanfiction. I personally don't hate on Flash a whole lot, but he isn't a very likable character in my opinion.

1909741 Thanks for helping to put that in pro spective for me, I have not seen anything beyond season 3 or the movie yet.

All I was able to find out when my girlfriend brought Flash Centry up was that he was not well thought out, so I did some research and was not able to find much about him but a lot of hate for him.

Now I have found the movie on the net to rent so I will give it a watch.

So once again I thank you for the input.
