My shortcomings as a writer and new projects · 12:23am Jan 9th, 2014
After researching proper writing techniques for ... 6 hours. I have come to the conclusion that my writing comes across more like a history text book than actual fiction. I state things happen but rarely describe them happening. Seeing as how this is how I see the world I can understand it. And I also realize that this will require a lot of time and thought as well as large amounts of effort to overcome. Hopefully when I get to the other side I will be able to write a story that fully immerses a person instead of just relating an interesting tale.
That being said I wish I could have realized this before my stories hit the site. But hindsight is 20/20 after all. Anyway this may mean I might rewrite some of my stories to fall into the showing style of writing more instead of my default telling. I will continue to research more to get a better understanding of how to be a better writer so I may actually get people interested in my stories. I would love to know I inspired someone to write.
Finally I have three projects in my head that I wish to work on so anyone who puts their input in first will decide where I go from here they are (1) Personality Profiles of the characters done in a database like way. I would have a lot to ask about with mods to make it acceptable (2) Using an original pony story. I have designed two original ponies and have been hesitant to use them in a story but I have wanted to (3) Use two of my favorite background characters in a story about them. So yeah that is the things in my mind. I am really hoping I can actually become a writer good enough to get a feature story at least once. Goodnight everypony.
