    My Little Golem - Should I or shouldn't I?

I copied My Little Golem over to my AO3 account late last year so that I could have it in the same place as some of the other fan stories I've been writing lately. I am using the term "copied" very loosely here. I thought it would be a shame to just clone the story when I knew that it had a few issues that would benefit from editing.

    Well then...

After months of no activity on here, I've suddenly received a small flood of notifications on my two main stories. I'm not complaining, but it is definitely making me feel a bit guilty for procrastinating on my next story. I've had it written in my head for well over a year, but I've been .. otherwise occupied.

To post, or not to post?

Obviously I am leaning toward not or I would have posted it by now.

In the latter half of last year I wrote a strange, somewhat dystopian story of future Equestria under the governance of Twilight Sparkle. It is a time of peace and prosperity, ruled with love by an eternal, benevolent leader whose sanity is slipping more with each passing decade.

It is dark, sad, tense and I daresay quite a departure from my usual work. It is also experimental, being the first time I have interwoven two related stories following vastly different timelines. I toyed with the format until my proofreader agreed that it was easy to follow what was happening in each timeline, and clear that they were converging as the story progressed. I finished the story, sent it to my editor, and then (partly on her advice), shelved it. It was a rush job, with many many ragged edges - very unrefined, even compared to my usual hatchet jobs.

If I ever decide to release it from The Island of Misfit Stories it will need a lot of TLC before it is ready for prime time. It needs editing, padding and a lot of other fiddly things ending in "ing". My editor suggested keeping it in reserve to serve as inspiration for future stories.

I wouldn't put it on your watchlist, but on the off-chance that you ever see something called The Cynosure Queen pop up in my list of stories then you will know that I decided to go back and revisit it.
