There's already a remix of I am Just a Pony

Are you cereal? The song hasn't been out for 13 hours, and it's already a thing. Why can't I work that fast?

    Finally pushed more writing out

It's short, and the time between it and my previous update is not reflective of the work I put into it. I put it out cuz it seemed like good enough filler until I can properly plan the next major event in the story. I'm trying not to rush the plot like I did in my previous stories, and I really want to make sure I get it right with this one, even if it takes eons.

What do you think?: Call of Duty Ghosts · 7:44am Dec 24th, 2013

How are my Bronies doing this fine evening? Morning? How do I greet you guys at 2:00 in the morning? Ah well. Semantics.
Anyways, on to the purpose of this post. For those of you who don't know me outside of Fimfiction, I like video games, as I'd imagine most of you do as well. I also have a growing library of games, some of which I have very strong opinions on. I've decide to review each game I own, and share my thoughts with you, my followers. You may agree, disagree, or straight up want to kick my teeth into my intestines. If you do feel that way, leave a comment, and don't come to my house. I have guns.
Anyways, onward to the game which I will be starting this series off with, and it's a game I just finished playing a few minutes ago: Call of Duty Ghosts. I think it's safe for me to assume that you all know about this game, and some of you may have some pretty strong opinions on it. I will attempt to review this in as neutral a way as I possibly can. When the game was finally installed on my computer, I hopped straight into multiplayer. Coming hot off of some hardcore domination in Battlefield 4, I want to compare the two.
Initially, I was not impressed by what I found. The only other CoD game I'd played online was Black Ops II, and this felt completely different. It took some getting used to, but I kept getting shafted by the massive amount of lag I was getting. I was ready to give up and never play again, but I pressed on, and eventually got connected to servers who's ping wasn't in the triple digits. From then on, I was able to perform pretty solidly, and actually enjoy myself a little. I came to like the experience as a whole.
After a few rounds online, I decided to try Squads. I was really only interested in the survival mode, since I'd imagined it as Zombies with guns. I was underwhelmed in that mode as well. My teammates always camped in roofs, while I was on the ground, fighting armies of enemies with seemingly infinite health pools. It was frustrating to say the least. I'm not going to review extinction, as I only played one round. I will review that in due time.
For all 4 of you who are interested, I did play a bit of the campaign as well, and I can say it is in fact typical CoD. Nothing fancy here. Knock down the targets, move up, rinse and repeat. It is pretty, and I want to see how the story plays out, but all around, nothing too special yet.
Now that I've given you my initial experiences, I'll start taking the game apart, and pointing out what I like and don't like.
Pros:
Infinity Ward pretty much invented online play with Cod 4, so you expect the gun play and balance to be spot on, and indeed they are. I never felt as if anyone was being cheap by using a certain gun, and the new dog kill streak (yes, unfortunately kill streaks are back) isn't really OP either. Unlike Black Ops II, where if you didn't use a SMG you lost, this game favors AR, but doesn't punish people for not. I didn't run into any Quick scoping, but that's probably because I'm on PC. In terms of polish, this game can't be beat.
Cons:
This is going to be a long one. Take a seat. As much as I enjoyed playing, there were a few issues that really detracted from the experience. The first thing I'd like to mention is the map design. CoD has always been criticized for having very restrictive maps, and it's good that IW listened to criticism, and changed up the maps. However, they made the maps much larger, without increasing the player count. As a result, I could go a solid minute (an eternity inCoD time) without finding anyone. I'm not camping either. I actively look for people. In a game that should be as fast paced as Ghosts, this hurts it too much.
These next problems I feel are only for PC players. If you play on console, stop being wrong and build a PC. Once you've done that, continue on to the next section. This game was obviously not meant to be played on PC. If I had a list of bad ports, this game beats out Dead Space for number one. For starters, there is no FoV slider, you can't adjust the settings mid game, and the default key bindings are awful. I had to bind weapon switching to the mouse wheel manually, and the kill streaks use 4,5,6, and 7 to select them. It seems as though the just let the computer decide what the bindings should be, and left it like that. It's embarrassing. The population of the game itself is abysmal as well. I never saw more than 3500 people on at once, and over 2/3 of them were playing TDM. Most of the other game modes were empty. That not only makes me miserable, since I'm forced to play a mode that isn't particularly captivating, but it insults the hard work the developers put into making the modes in the first place. I want to try cranked, or at least some ground war, but no one else cares.
The biggest sin of all though, was the fact that IW seemed to have copy pasted MW3 onto a new engine and told us it was a new game. After all the innovation we saw in BOII, that's just pathetic. Score streaks, Pick ten, emblems, and wildcards, were all thrown to the wind. It may sound like I'm S-ing the D of BOII, but I feel like IW should have at least carried over those good ideas. Instead, they fell back to an inferior game, and sold it. I'm insulted.
Overall, I would give this game a 5/10. It should be tons of fun, and eventually I was able to enjoy it. But the lazy decisions to not optimize for all platforms and fall back on old game mechanics detract from the overall experience on PC. If you want to buy it, go ahead. Just try not to give IW and Activision too much money. They need to be hurt by this game.
Let me know what you guys think of this review. If y'all like it, I'll do another game tomorrow. I mean later today. Man, early morning hours are weird.
