I also wanted to share with you guys that yesterday, I went to an awards reception at a local community college where many writers were honored. I happened to be one of them, receiving an award for second place in the discipline on One-Act Scripts/Screenplays. It was really awesome!!!
It was cool to hear other people's hard work, too. I was both amazed and humbled by their talent and dedication to the craft of creative writing. I learned quite a bit last night!
And the food was AWESOME!!! First, a tasty salad topped with peanuts and bleu cheese, followed by a delectable wild mushroom soup with a little kick. For the main course, a succulent leg of lamb in roasted tomato sauce with a side of green beans. Then, the dessert!! Funnel cake with two tufts of cotton candy and a side of strawberries, a classy twist on a carnival favorite, and a vanilla milkshake to wash it all down. So good!
Won't lie. I was a little nervous reading an excerpt from my work, but it was really nice to hear everyone there enjoying what little I had to contribute to the creative community. I even had one of the teachers come up to me and share their gratitude for my freedom of expression on an old favorite. For those of you playing at home, I wrote an alternate ending to Oedipus where everyone lives... *yay*
Anyways, I just wanted to share that with you, Hope you guys have an awesome day, and expect an update to OTTB tomorrow!!!
