My God! It's full of boardgames · 1:57am Dec 4th, 2013
Wow,
Okay, so like, the website me and my friends were looking at making, it's still not up. Right now we're working on a spreadsheet to fill in the important stuff for each product. When I created it I maxed out the size you could do in GDocs. Yeah, and there still wasn't enough fields for everything we need to know about each product. And this is just one of our distributors. Crap on a crutch. No wonder nobody has every "done it right." Right now I'm working on the (and this is no dramatic hyperbole) over 800 different dice that we can get from one vendor from one company. This doesn't include the dice we could get directly from them that our distributor doesn't carry.
But that's not the crazy part! No, what's crazy is that, well, I'm a dork. I'm a huge, colossal dork. Dorks call me dork. So when we started the company I was naturally the product knowledge guy, since I'd played most everything even remotely RPG related. We were starting the layout for the website and looking at what we could get and I was curious. I asked my partners "Are we going to sell board games?" We decided if we could get them and somebody was willing to buy them then yes, we would sell it. After all, why wouldn't we? Because there's so FUCKING many of them. No really, before we started I didn't know anybody other than Hasbro made board games. Well, my buddies had introduced me to the concept of "rail" games. So I guess I knew in the back of my mind that there'd be some, but I was not ready for the amount. Of the 20,000 products we're loading at least 7-8 thousand are board games. And of course, none of them want to be easily categorized.
