Dark MLP stories

its it just me, or are Dark Stories about MLP almost as good as the show? i mean if they aren't done properly, they are either weird or disgusting. but well written and thought out ones are just awesome, in my opinion. they add a more not only a more sinister side to the plot, but also a more realistic side. life isn't all sonic rainbooms and candy, as awesome as that would be.

[Puzzle Piece]

This is the entire point of fanfics in my opinion, especially for a show like this. They can't explore the more serious possibilities in a canon episode if they want to stay within the target audience. But they can hint at a darker undertone to an event which gives us writers fodder for stories. We are then free to go deeper and find the implications behind those events and extract all of the juicy feels. For me personally, I never go into writing a darker story without a lesson/moral in mind. Death and destruction for the sake of death and destruction are lame excuses for what could be moving plot elements. And for a show like this, fics that have that in them are nothing more than a sick perversion, whereas a piece of writing with more depth could be more compelling. That's what it means to me anyway.
