So I have an idea... · 6:09am Dec 2nd, 2013
But I want some feedback.
A couple weeks ago my husband made a snarky remark about how many Fallout: Equestria and fics were on the front page here on FiM and how he would love to see one, just one, about some other video game. This got me thinking. Recently, I've been getting deep into Borderlands again (the first one, not the second) and I was thinking about writing a Borderlands/Ponies crossover story.
A few basic points are that it would be written approximately 2,000 years (give or take a decade) after the current season. None of the mane cast of ponies would be referenced (except the Princesses occasionally). Pandora is still a different planet. Ponies use magic-tech and most unicorns don't use their magic except to do little things, like levitation, or to enchant weapons and shields. Without going into spoiler details, there are unicorns who CAN use their magic for more than just these tasks, but they are rare and are usually only from one tribe.
The magic-tech itself really only has to do with the enchantment of weapons, shields, and the amazing storage devices used in the game.
I haven't worked out the finer details (I'm not even sure yet if this is a project I want to take on) but I do know the races of the main cast- Lilith's character will be a unicorn, Mordecai will be a pegasus, and Brick and Rolland will be earth ponies. All were friends growing up (until their mid-teens, so just older than the CMC if you will) then they went their separate ways until eventually all meeting up again on Pandora.
Again, I only have base points written out (when all the characters eventually meet up, what drives each character to find the Vault [cuz I'm sorry, they aren't all going to be money-grubbing jakkoffs], the basic personality of each character, etc.) but I'd like to see if there is any outside desire to read a story like this.
I can say that IF I were to write it, it would be nothing like The Best Intentions. TBI was supposed to be a short story, but it got way out of hand. This story would be intentionally long and involved and would take a lot of my effort. Again, I'm just putting feelers out there for interest. I'm not saying yay or nay if I'm gonna write this (though I can say that my husband is very gung-ho about it XD)
So please, leave your comments and your insights. They could be very useful :3
