    Champions of Mareth spin-off

This guy called Zephyr started writing a (non-canon) spin-off story to Champions of Mareth, which centres around Soarin as the protagonist.

If that kinda thing interests you, then it's here.

    Rape porn ban

Since I've noticed the message here isn't all that clear if you don't watch the video, allow me to summarise:

Bondage, dominatrixing and Fifty Shades of Grey are all now illegal!

So since you guys seem to like my current works, I'm going to guess that this will be relevant to some of your interests.

Rape porn ban · 11:09am Nov 22nd, 2013

Since I've noticed the message here isn't all that clear if you don't watch the video, allow me to summarise:

Bondage, dominatrixing and Fifty Shades of Grey are all now illegal!

So since you guys seem to like my current works, I'm going to guess that this will be relevant to some of your interests.

This is frankly unacceptable, and I say this not simply as a writer of the material (at least for now, the text medium still seems to be safe), but as someone who refuses to live in a fascist dictatorship.

This is thought policing, straight and true. And I will not sit idly while our old-fashioned, self-centred leader tries to control our very thoughts and sexual desires.

So I don't care if you aren't English, I don't care if you don't have a thing for rape, BDSM, or just generally domination in sex (all of which this ban will cover). Please, please, spread this around.

I don't know what we can accomplish. I don't know if the government will even care what we think. All I know is I have to do something, and if that something is getting as many people angry about this as I possibly can, then that's what I'm going to do.

I have no idea how to end blog posts, but Cameron clearly has no idea how to government.

Oh, Cameron? I believe a lot of people hate this mofo and apparently this kind of shit is common with him. Not sure what can be done at all, though. If reddit is to be believed, the majority of Brits are just kind of apathetic about all this anus-invading that their own government is doing to them.

Not a whole lot can be done if they don't want change in the first place.

1529238 Ahem,Sorry for bringing this up,But assassination is allways a option.....Just have a JFK 2.0 and bam,Dickhead politician dead

To weigh this up, because of the media platform that this kind of content is shown on, it is very expensive to set up a group that can track where this stuff is being viewed, not only that, but more gets uploaded around the world everyday. this make is expensive and a waste of time to simply apply fines to those who watch that stuff. I'm gonna ge frank ... RAPE is degenerative to what sex is, if it's someones fantasy then let em masturbate to it but my god do they need to see someone else getting rammed in a back alleyway crying out for help to get themselves off? thats a bit disturbing. The true criminals are the ones that make this stuff in the first place so focussing on them is better. however it is true that children can also get access to this way too easily, i mean I discovered porn when i was 10, all i had to do was click on the "yes i am over 18 button" i mean is that all the regulation there is? if its that hard to cover it up then perhaps an all out ban is simplest, and better yet cheapest (contrary to how the guy says "in these economic times" and that the ban means that Cameron is not looking after the money) though then again who cares what other people are doing at night behind closed doors? even if they are being RAPED, the concept of which means to have sex WITHOUT consent usually with a female victim, would you honestly have the same opinion about domestic violence? I don't that's for sure.

I realise that maybe this is a touchy subject but i don't think that this is something to be that mad about at all.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess you didn't watch the video all the way through.

The banning of actual rape porn, as in content showing real, actual, oh-my-God-stop rape, is frankly something I'm at the very least not mad about, and probably would have valid reasoning behind it.

But that is not all Cameron is doing.

The problem here lies in his coming down on what he calls "simulated rape." This content, in reality, contains nothing but consenting adults having consenting sex and generally a good time. The difference being that they've chosen not to go entirely vanilla with it.

A video with actors who pretend not to want sex is now illegal. BDSM, bondage, master/slave play, and just dominant behaviour in general, is now illegal. If anyone makes a Fifty Shades of Grey movie? Bam, illegal!

This shit is not some obscure fetish that a few lonely guys sitting in basements with the lights off get off to. This is something A LOT of people are into. About 40% of WOMEN are into this kind of thing. (Why do you think Fifty Shades got so popular?)

A LOT of porn on the internet falls under this, and you won't have to go to some shady site to find it. If you go to any big porn video site, chances are the thumbnails on the front page are enough to make you a criminal.

So, after all this, has your opinion changed at all?

1547198 But why would you even want actors to replicate it? that's kind of worse in a way because it could be seen as a mockery to what rape is. Fair enough that's their choice but branding it as what they are, that's thin ice to tread on indeed.

Other topics like BDSM, Slave and all the other versions you mentioned, just like the book they're a grey area, though it is still one thing that needs to stay out of any politicians sight, as of course they'll come down like a ton of bricks on them.

Look don't get me wrong here, i'm literally weighing this up, by looking at it from all perspectives, what i'm writing isn't completely my own opinion. though to be honest i don't like the idea of seeing all of this kind of porn flying around the internet and advertising itself to people, i mean sure we all have our querks when it comes to sex but does it really need to be encouraged?

(ReEdit: if you don't care about younger children finding graphic rape content and think its not a valid motive for this, i believe it is definitely a factor to at least be considered properly, because come on, Your hormones aren't whizzing about at fuck all speeds until your at least 13 i'm pretty sure of that, but the thing is encouraging graphic content, can encourage wrong ways of looking at something that really, deserves a little more respect than some people are giving it.)

One thing i find ridiculous is how this somehow makes David Cameron a Fascist, that just isn't the case, he's doing the politically correct thing that in reality has been a very argued subject for a long time, there are other people than him with the same opinion, he's not forcing anything, and it still coms down to a vote in government. Hitler was a fascist and until i hear him trying to brainwash people into believing that Ghandi was a rascist (or some other bullshit) then i think the idea of him being a Fascist is completely laughable.

1547338
Your argument about it being a mockery to rape holds about as much weight as considering Grand Theft Auto to be a mockery of car theft and violence. Which yes, it absolutely is. But no-one cares, because it's fun.
It'd fun because the urges to assert ourselves are part of us as humans, and containing it within fantasy is by far a better option than condemning the fantasy to be a crime that's as bad as the reality. If it helps, picture this as being instead "Possession of violent video games or movies to be punished by the same amount of time in prison as actual violence-doers."

Which, yeah, is totally a thing politicians have probably tried to do before. But that was too mainstream, so now they're picking on something that people would be less willing to publicly defend.

I agree that the prevalence of porn on the internet may be a little overbearing for some, but that's a problem that applies to all porn in its entirety, and is irrelevant to this specific law being passed.

The point is, there are better ways of handling this. No-one is getting harmed in the process of making this kind of porn, nor by anyone watching the porn, so treating them like full-fledged criminals is going completely overboard.

And before you try to say that it might harm children watching, let me point out that this law is British-local, and does not prevent people in the world wide web from making and publishing this kind of porn. Children still have the same chance of finding this stuff. There's just now the fact that exploring their own sexuality could land their parents in prison. This is meant to warp the child less?

1547432 I don't believe that relating GTA to Rape is a very good comparison, because the difference is that no one gave a toss about GTA where as Rape is a very serious topic, that is the centre of focus on this topic right? and by saying "no one cares because it's fun" and relating that to the topic of rape, are you saying that we should allow this to continue because taking the piss out of rape is fun?

Plus it's not about actually making people go to jail for something like this, i think it looks more like a deterrant, like if you hop on a train without a ticket, you know you could get fined, and more often than mot its a gamble that doesn't pay off at all.

Furthermore if people are less willing to defend this subject does that not mean that there are more people who would rather see it gone? it doesn't have to mean that the people are being oppressed from saying anything about it, or their too shy. if that is the majorities opinion, then so be it, maybe the public agree with Cameron that it shouldn't be around.

Personally i can see the ending of this being that the name changes and a few more sites pop up pure and simple, but if it helps those that are paranoid about this stuff sleep at night then, whatever floats their boat, i don't care.

I would be interested to hear what you consider to be a better way about this issue and please, when you do put yourself in the shoes of whichever politician you prefer ;)

Your point brings up a classic fallacy in public opinion that has baffled me for years: the one pertaining to rape vs murder.
I could start to monologue here, but we all know the drill: Violence is fine, sex is bad. It is the fucked up way of our world.

But I won't let go of my argument, that GTA is a valid comparison. Because for people who look at porn, and people who play violent video games, the reason is similar: stress-relief. Neither of them are doing anything wrong.
I don't know your personal tastes, so I can't say "imagine if X porn was suddenly illegal" with X = your fetish, so this comparison will suffice. The crimes committed in GTA are equal in severity to rape, or possibly worse, yet it is allowed to remain. The people who have fun murdering pretend people are upstanding citizens: The people who have fun watching pretend rape are scum of the Earth.

If you disagree, think of it like this: if your closest friend was raped, or if they were murdered, which would cause the most overall damage? Which would you least want to happen to them? Not for a second pretending that either is a good option, of course. In fact, that's kind of my point.

Anyway, I've gotten off topic. What's the opposite of derail? Rerail? Sure, I'll rerail the discussion.

Sure, it's possible that many people agree with this, but you have to admit that its harder to take to the stand, and say with confidence, "banning rape porn is a bad thing," because it's impossible to gauge what kind of reactions this'll elicit. People tend to keep their fetishes private after all. So obviously a lot of people are going to sit twiddling their thumbs over this.

If I were in the shoes of a rival politician, here's what my election promise would be: re-legalize watching any kind of porn. Yes, any. I know that brings in some shady business, but I can't abide double-standards, so here's my reasoning: simply watching or possessing porn affects no-one.

If the porn contains criminal activities, then the focus should be on catching the criminals responsible for making it, not slapping the wrist of those who chance upon it. The internet is well known for vigilantism via crowd-sourcing. By opening up criminal porn to everyone, there's a higher chance of someone spotting a clue that would lead to the perpetrator's arrest.

Not to mention they can use the manpower that's currently being wasted chasing down people who are no danger to society, and redirect those people into something useful, like catching actual rapists.

"Violence is fine, sex is bad"

Personally i find it very much the other way around, what i disagree with on the sex thing is taking it to potentially harmful extremes even for those involved in doing it.

"my argument, that GTA is a valid comparison. Because for people who look at porn, and people who play violent video games, the reason is similar: stress-relief. Neither of them are doing anything wrong"

Interesting sentence this one, though the thankfully you were clever enough to say "people who look at porn" that was a better way of putting it, because let's not forget the major issue is with the people who are actually committed to producing the content in the first place, though i retain the fact that a game which though controversial on its release, has become a laughable game due to the lack of care people have about it, especially the lack of seriousness that the game designers took in making it so i still think that game has no bonds to rape, not only that but it is virtual reality vs real life, you cannot put the two together.

Anyway yes you are right it is hard to take a stand about these kind of topics but i'm willing to bet that our own morals drive us to agree with what is being said by the Prime Minister in this instance, and therefore there is also no need to say anything on the matter (though i also still hold my previous opinion on this bit).

"my election promise would be: re-legalize watching any kind of porn. Yes, any."

In reality you wouldn't get elected for saying that in fact you'd be kicked out of your party for that. however you mentioned a better point later on which was:

"simply watching or possessing porn affects no-one."

This is true but as long as it is one of those acts kept to ones self (i'm sure you must know what i mean by this):unsuresweetie:

Finally in terms of your summary, I agree with moving the manpower to find the perpetrators as oppose to the viewer, that would be a good use of time and money but allowing people to watch all of it to make the job easier? i have my doubts about that, as a concept because i'm not sure that the benefits would match the cost of allowing that kind of content loose to the wider community. By allowing people to watch it, more people will make it because the consequences become obscured by the wider demand for it (saying that really creeps me out) that will make it harder to stop rape content being produced.

This has been an entertaining conversation mate, looking forward to your thoughts:ajsmug:
