I just read Teacher's Pet by Pascoite.
I wrote a quick review at the bottom, but I'm recommending this to anyone who enjoys short stories, especially those who want to learn writing by reading.
Hey, ya know what? That's going to be a thing on this blog now. Writing by Reading. I'll post stories that are great examples, or counter-examples, of writing elements I think are important.
Anyway... Teacher's pet. Starts off with vivid slice of life, then tension builds up to a reveal. What's made this stick out for me was the quality of the descriptions: Cheerilee is very clearly a pony in a schoolhouse, and getting that essential idea in details is worth re-reading.
