    Long absence

    Hey guys.

So, you can tell I've been gone for about 3 years. I'm sorry about that. I've gotten sidetracked and sort of lost interest in the show. I just wanted to make sure to make an official post detailing it.

    request for more

So I've had requests from at least two people for continuation of my story "Hint of coconut" primarily because of how they like Coco (Almost) as much as i do. So my question becomes, dear readers, so I create an extension, or an entirely new fic altogether, with different characters other than Coco?

    Inactivity

Sorry I've been inactive, guys. Now that I'm a grad student, life is a lot tougher and more involved. But, I'll be doing my best to get off my ass and actually write something. I've got a few ideas bouncing around, and honestly, I miss writing. I really do. Hopefully I can get some shit going for you guys

    College is over!

Well guys, I've officially graduated from Texas Tech University. Now that means you can start sending me money. Actually it means I can start writing a little more. SO be on the lookout for more things. I currently have an adult romance in the works.

Flutterheart Explanation · 3:59am Apr 24th, 2012

Recently heard some of the more negative comments about Flutterheart around the web. Let's read them off and explain them:

"Don’t even mention Flutterheart. I started reading it, and while it was quite competent, it got very whiny and patronising very quickly, the self-insert is not very believable, the plot could use a lot of tweaking (is it even worth to to tweak a self insert story?) and it just turns into some kind of weird fullfilment fic."

Indeed. This fic was originally designed to be a personal bit, something meant for just me personally. While I did decide to upload it to fimfiction, the original audience never changed: me. I was writing this purely for myself, for fulfillment of happiness, and it was by some freak accident that it got popular.

"I had the misfortune to read Flutterheart. Guy ships his blatant self-insert with Fluttershy. Repetitive dialogue, sappy, and keeps referring to Fluttershy as being "tan." It actually made me think much more kindly of a 2nd-pony OC/Rainbow Dash fic.

Of course, then I started reading [name of fic withheld], which makes Flutterheart look positively benign...

I really need to read fanfics that are actually good."

Well, let me also state that Flutterheart was essentially my first major work. The forgotten battle of Equestria was a sort of first project/compelted story, yes, but, all in all, Flutterheart is what I would consider my first real work.

It seems that most people's problem with the story is the self-insert issue. True, most people that self-insert generally aren't successful in doing it. I tried making the story as interesting as possible, writing to the best of my ability. Sure, the dialogue may get repetitive, but that's just my sense of romance. Perhaps One reason people who like the story don't care about the self-insert is because they also want to be with Fluttershy. Perhaps having another story with an OC gives them a chance to put themselves in Trey's (My) hooves. Once again, I ever meant to write this to impress anypony other than myself. If you like it, I admire that you do. But those of you that do...REALLY DO. Or maybe borrowing an OC is common, I'm not sure. either way, keep it up. And, of course, those that hate, hate it with a passion. I've always been a bit of a polar opposite person with my life. People either love me or hate me. Same with my work.

I also never meant to patronize myself. Reading back, I see how that could have come out that way, but my original intent was simply to try explaining my personality in the form of a story. Perhaps gaining acceptance of my OC would equal acceptance of me, which has been a crucial issue in my life.

In other news, keep a lookout for the Flutterheart: Revised edition. I'll try to get the first chapter up soon.

Trey

........

:rainbowlaugh:

Sorry, sorry... I kinda don't like Fluttershy. She's too demure. I like me some Pinkie or Twilight, personally. :pinkiehappy::twilightsheepish: So fun and so adorkable!

And as for the revision, yes. I didn't really care whether you called her tan or pink or strawberry blue. It's a work of fiction, and while it's a great big pile of sappy, it at least has emotions. I've seen rocks with more emotion than some other self-inserts and romance fics. This takes the two and puts emotion in it. I still say that it's not as sappy as those romance books for women. Completely unbelievable. This one has a modicum of understandability.

Fluttershy isn't tan, she's cream.

...butter-coloured?

and yes, welcome to fiction writing, where every character (benign or not) you put into your stories will be shot down as a self-insert :ajbemused:

Haters gonna hate.

Like you said, you wrote it for yourself. And you should -always- be doing what you are passionate about because -you- want to do it. What other people think is second to that. By all means accept criticism but there is a difference between constructive criticism and spiteful comments.

Loved your work, still loved your work. People will always be wary of OCs but yours has enough development and incorporation that he can become believable.

Keep up the hoofsome writing!

Is borrowing an OC common? I think so...

Chocolate milk! :applejackconfused:

As good aas Twilight is, FLUTTERSHY IS BEST PONY:flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage:

:facehoof: Why do people have to do mean things like these? Anyways most oc stories are percieved as self inserts so, blarg. Anyhoof, people gonna hate and we just give them love and tolerance.

84109 She's just too sweet for me. I need sugar, but I also need spice. Shy doesn't have the spice I require. :pinkiehappy: does. :twilightsheepish: does. Pinkie's also sweeter than Twilight, but, Twilight's got my type of nerdiness.

This was one of the first fics I've read, and Oh Celestia do I love it.

I'm not a fan of self-insert, but this was just great. Reminded me a lot of myself. Iunno.

84675 kk, I'll try too! :unsuresweetie: Not sure if I will do so soon, though.

Ignore what everybody else says....this story (Or should I say Novel:scootangel: ) is really magnificent. Great work! Love your emotional writing style and everything else about it! :fluttershysad:

Hm. people disliking your story? they are wrong. it is just too awesome for that. Fluttershy is awesome. Just ignore them and keep up the awesomeness
