I've been saying this since before season three came out, and Twilicorn was still just a myth.
There's a reason why Twilight is an Alicorn, and there's a reason why she had that power outbirst when she was a child.
She isn't special because Celestia chose her as a personal protege, she was chosen to be her protege because she is special.
My personal theory is that Alicorns are physical embodiment of certain things in the world.
celestia and Luna being the Sun and Moon, with Cadence being love.
Twilight is probably literally just twilight.
Those are my thoughts.
