How would you feel if I started a side story to go along with MLPFIL? It would be a story that updates randomly, in fact it would mainly be a bunch of one shots depicting the lives of characters not shown in the story, some that just act as side characters and the future and past of main characters. The stories would be in no order and some would be in alternate universes. They would range from comedy to tragedy, and I'd take prompts from time to time from anyone willing to give me one. Well, what do you thing?

Okay, but seriously, this can be very exciting and fun to do. My advice however, is to be very careful with how its written. Depending on how much it ties in with the first, you want to have EVERYTHING planned out first, otherwise you end up with a massive pile of plotholes....
....That doesn't actually make sense when I think about it, but you get my point.
Either way, it can be very VERY fun to do.

Thanks and you are right, I actually already have a couple planned (But some won`t appear until much later on because spoilers) Also, gods, plot holes, I remember a story I was working on, it had massive plot holes, oh lord....

And then you plus bad writing, short chapters and plot twists everywhere that don`t make sense, (not to mention some plots just get forgotten) and you have a story that I am glad I only finished 3 chapters, then stopped.

At least it wasn't my first fic, where Thunderlane is mental and dreams of resting near a fire of burning pony corpses.

1436286 So here's the premise:
Thunderlane was supposed to be a twin. His brother died in the womb, and he didn't find out until his mom was pregnant with Rumble. For some reason (spoilers) Thunderlane starts having nightmares about some colt who looks just like him.
Fast forward to now, and Thunderlane has been suffering from paranoia and insomnia. He's on the brink of death from lack of sleep, and his hallucinations are getting worse (like the very last chapter I wrote had him writing in a journal, only to have this other being take over and start writing where he left off). Blossomforth comes to town and tries to help him out, and actually suggest that maybe he's not so crazy after all.
The two chat with Twi and after some serious study deduce that, if this thing is indeed real, it's a spectre. A spirit that infects the mind. Then shit gets all grimdark ghostbusters and Thunderlane X Blossomforth OTP.

1436320 It was going nowhere fast was its problem. I could get as grimdark as I wanted, but it lost its flair and had no direction (same with Separation at that point) So i dropped both of them and disappeared for two years!
Then I came back, and was like HEY! I'm rebooting some shit

1436360 Actually It'd be a lot about being under the influence of The Imagination Engine (Title of an actual WIP fic I'm doing) and trying to find and destroy it before I lose myself in its temptation.
As you can guess It'd be one giant metaphor for me trying to not lose myself in my own head, before I completely detach myself from everyone. It's a very real concern from one of my friends that I spend too much time isolated in my head.
