Potential Story Idea · 1:21am Oct 10th, 2013
Yet another blog of boredom, it seems. -_- Nothing may come of it.
... Anyway...
I consider myself a massive fan of Dungeons and Dragons, and more recently the "3.75" spin-off, Pathfinder... In this game, I tend to play the spellcasters, both of divine and arcane nature, slinging massive fireballs and blasting foes into oblivion, rather than take advantage of the 'control' elements of casting, such as the Summon Monster spells. As a Sorcerer or Wizard, I blow crap up and care little for what gets in my way. As a Cleric, I use a mace for foes and supporting/healing magic for comrades.
Yet I've never ever, aside from my first character, a Ranger, gotten past level 9.
Cue segue into the ideas.
Twilight Sparkle: Dragon Disciple
Draft Summary: The Alicorn Ascension of Twilight Sparkle does not quite go as Celestia planned, and instead of pegasus and earthly blood, she is blessed with dragon's might. With scaled wings and even greater power than before growing within her, the new Princess must relearn control of her power over magic... lest she lose herself.
Explanation: The Dragon Disciple is, in Pathfinder, a Prestige Class, simply an alternate flavor of Sorcerer, a spontaneous caster of the arcane. With a Sorcerer, power usually comes from the bloodline, be it because of direct relations or blessings from what ever affinity the blood has. I'm not at all sure how Twilight Sparkle would have the blood of dragons, but most likely it would be because of the exam... and less actual 'blood' so much as 'Spike's hatching had an unexpected side-effect on her magic that reacted with her Ascension'. Sorcerers usually do not show any outward signs of their bloodlines, though their abilities are affected... unless, yes, they are like the Dragon Disciples, in which case you start to grow wings and.and develop patches of scales on your body, all the while your teeth sharpen into daggers and you even develop the power to take on a dragon's shape, breath weapon and all.
As we all know, Dragons in MLP: FiM are volatile creatures, fueled by their greed and filled with foul attitude when provoked. I picture, should this ever get off the ground, Twilight having to deal with a whole new set of emotions, her hunger for knowledge becoming avarice of all things arcane, her emotions more passionate and reactive... might even be some downright scary OoC Dragon!Twilight moments, considering... Oh crud, it might be Lesson Zero to the eleventh. *gulp*
Truth be told, this is just something that occurred in my mind, and I wanted to get it out of there. It has potential, but... would it be worth it?
... Darn. I had other images in my head, Fluttershy as a Druid, complete with Wild Shape, Pinkie Pie as a Bard, which she might technically be already, or even Rarity as a closet Barbarian. ... Meh.
I apologize for wasting time.
